Police Arrests Drug Peddler in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

July 15: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Baramulla Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from his possession.

A police party from Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO PS Kreeri had established a checkpoint at Wanigam Payeen. During checking, a scooty bearing registration number JK05J-6187 was intercepted. The scooty was being driven by Hilal Ahmad Bukhari son of Ab Majeed Bukhari resident of Kreeri. Upon search, 1.95 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and the two-wheeler was seized.

Accordingly, a case under FIR nr 57/2025 under sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and further investigation is underway.

Srinagar Police Attaches Property Worth ₹1 Crore Under NDPS Act

In a major action against the drug menace, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property—comprising a two-storeyed house along with land—worth approximately *₹1 crore,* belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Takanwari, Karnabal.

The accused is involved in Case FIR No. 02/2024 under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Sangam. He is presently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.

The said property has been established as having been acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, and following due confirmation by the competent authority under SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act), New Delhi, the immovable property has been formally seized and attached. It shall not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority.

The accused has a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics, especially targeting the local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety.

This action is part of J&K Police’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking networks. By targeting and dismantling the financial infrastructure of such networks, police aim to curb the spread of narcotics and safeguard the community.

Drug Peddler arrested in Awantipora, contraband substances recovered.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Awantipora police arrested one drug Peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

During naka checking in area of Police Post Toll Plaza , police party under the supervision of IC PP Toll Plaza SI Ishfaq Ahmad arrested one Peddler. During search, officers were able to recover 5 grams of brown sugar like substance from his possession. The arrested persons has been identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat S/o Farooq Ahmad Bhat resident of Latribal Pampore.

Accordingly, case FIR NO. 111/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
