HMO Spraying Advisory
1. Purpose of Spraying HMO
• Used for pest control, especially against sucking insects like aphids, mites, and whiteflies.
2. Ideal Weather Conditions
• Humidity: Avoid spraying during high humidity to prevent excessive residue buildup.
• Wind Speed: Do not spray if the wind speed exceeds 10 km/h to prevent drift.
• Time of Application: Early morning or late afternoon is ideal to avoid evaporation losses.
3. Dosage and Dilution
• Use 1–2% HMO solution (10-20 ml per liter of water) depending on the crop and pest severity.
• Always mix with water as per the manufacturer’s recommendation.
4. Application Guidelines
• Ensure uniform coverage on both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
• Use a well-calibrated sprayer for even application.
• Maintain a minimum of 10-15 days gap between HMO applications.
5. Precautions
• Do not mix HMO with sulfur-based fungicides or alkaline substances.
• Avoid spraying on water-stressed or young plants to prevent damage.
• Wear protective gear (gloves, mask, goggles) while handling and spraying.
6. Post-Spraying Recommendations
• Monitor plants for any adverse effects like leaf burn or discoloration.
• Reapply only if necessary, based on pest activity and weather conditions.
• Maintain proper records of spraying schedules for better crop management.
