Youth Dies of Electric Shock While Repairing Wire in Budgam

Budgam, July 20: A tragic incident occurred in the Daharmuna area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday, where a local youth lost his life due to electrocution while attempting to repair an electrical wire.

Sources informed the news agency that the deceased has been identified as Zahid Ahmad Paul, son of Ab Satar Paul, a resident of Daharmuna village.

According to reports, Zahid sustained a fatal electric shock after coming into contact with a live wire while trying to fix an electrical fault. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.

Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami Condemns Social Media Defamation of Religious Scholars

Renowned Islamic scholar Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chairman of Karwan‑e‑Islami International, has issued a strong public statement denouncing the growing misuse of social media platforms to defame religious scholars and incite sectarian conflict.

Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar, Dr. Hami warned of a disturbing trend:

> “Certain individuals exploit religious issues for likes, views, and income from YouTube and Facebook.”

He emphasized that true Ulema never resort to social media theatrics for popularity. Instead, scholarly disagreements must be handled through respectful, traditional methods rooted in Adab, Shariah, and ethical responsibility.

Key Appeals from Dr. Hami:

To senior scholars and religious leaders: Take active steps to educate the public about self-styled influencers who use online platforms to sow discord for personal gain.

To the general public: Be alert and discerning—religious discourse should be a source of guidance, not entertainment or profit.

To the wider community: Focus on national unity, avoiding divisive rhetoric, and addressing critical social issues such as substance abuse, moral decline, and youth alienation.
