National Conference Youth Leader Aamir Rasool Magray Demands ST Status for Chenab Region,Appeals to Government
Jammu,February 16: Jammu & Kashmir National Conference provincial vice president youth national conference Aamir Rasool Magray has strongly demanded Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Chenab region, urging the government to take immediate steps to address the long-pending issue.
In a statement issued on Monday, Magray said that granting ST status to the deserving communities of the Chenab region would ensure social justice, economic upliftment, and equal opportunities in education and employment. He emphasized that the people of the region have been facing neglect for years and require constitutional safeguards to secure their future.
Magray appealed to the Central and Union Territory governments to conduct a comprehensive survey and initiate the necessary legal procedures to grant ST recognition. He said such a move would help bridge developmental gaps and empower marginalized sections residing in remote and hilly areas of the Chenab valley.
Highlighting the aspirations of the youth, the National Conference leader said that ST status would open new avenues in government jobs, higher education, and welfare schemes. He further urged political representatives to raise the matter in appropriate forums to ensure justice for the people of the Chenab region.
Reaffirming his party’s commitment to inclusive development, Magray said the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference will continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of all underprivileged communities across Jammu and Kashmir.
