*DC Pulwama Chairs Meeting to Discuss Independence Day Arrangements*

Pulwama, July 19:
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today convened a preliminary meeting of officers at Circuit House Pulwama to discuss the arrangements being put in place by various departments for the smooth and enthusiastic celebration of Independence Day 2025 across the district.
At the outset, Dr. Qayoom emphasized the importance of the national event and directed all departments to ensure timely and coordinated preparations. He stressed the need to create a festive atmosphere while maintaining the decorum and dignity of the occasion.
Dr. Qayoom further emphasized the importance of the National Flag hoisting and instructed officers to ensure strict adherence to the Flag Code and the National Anthem protocol. He also stressed to incorporate cultural activities that reflect the rich diversity of the nation.
The meeting included a review of necessary infrastructure and facilities, including seating arrangements, traffic management, medical aid stations and logistical support. It was informed that the main functions will be held at District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama & DPL Awantipora, while similar events will be organised at Sub-Division, Block and Tehsil levels.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all district and sectoral officers to ensure their presence, along with their subordinate staff, at both district and sub-divisional level events. He discussed arrangements related to flag hoisting, march pasts, cultural performances, seating, stage setup, venue decoration and refreshments.
Directions were also issued to ensure fool-proof security, uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, traffic regulation, and the illumination of major government buildings in the national tricolour. Distribution of invitation cards and logistical support for participants were also discussed.
Dr. Qayoom instructed officers to ensure full participation of school children, NCC and NSS cadets, police contingents, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Senior Citizens, Youth activists, Retired employees, NGOs and cultural teams.
The meeting was attended by all District and Sectoral Officers, Officers of Police and Paramilitary Forces and other stakeholders.
