To
The United Council of Scholars (Majlis-e-Ulama),
If genuine unity of the Ummah is truly the objective, then this unity must be weighed on the scales of justice-not secured by demanding silence from one faction alone. We have consistently observed that with the sighting of the Muharram moon, specific groups unleash vitriol against the Shia school of thought, resorting to inflammatory rhetoric and defiling the sanctity of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them all). What manner of unity is this, wherein vehement condemnation and warnings are issued against disrespect towards the Rightly Guided Caliphs, yet utter silence is maintained when revered personalities such as Hazrat Ali (AS), Hazrat Fatima (AS), and Hazrat Imran [Abu Talib] (AS) are openly disparaged? Is unity merely the suppression of one voice?
We expect that you, esteemed members, who strive for the unity of the Ummah with such dedication, will demonstrate that same resolve by publicly denouncing those elements who, year after year with the advent of Muharram, fuel anti-Shia sentiment and engage in slander against the Prophet’s Household (PBUH).
We formally demand:
●That explicit warnings be issued against such elements.
●That public statements unequivocally repudiating their rhetoric be made.
●That calls for unilateral sacrifice in the name of "unity" cease immediately.
Bear in mind: Unity devoid of justice is impossible..Our patience must not be misconstrued as weakness. If defamation of the Caliphs is deemed an offense, then defamation of the Ahl al-Bayt is equally an unforgivable transgression. Silence, at times, becomes complicity in injustice.
Thankyou
