Sir,
With due respect, we the residents of Village Parigam want to bring to your kind notice a very serious and unfortunate matter which has created fear and panic among the people of the area.
It has come to light that a butcher name hide allegedly sold the meat of a sick and rabies-infected bovine animal to the general public. Many people from the village and nearby areas consumed the meat without knowing about the disease. This has created a serious danger to public health.
The Police Post Newa has already taken notice of the matter and the Medical Officer Parigam has also issued an advisory asking the people who consumed the meat to undergo anti-rabies vaccination and medical check-up. Hundreds of people have reportedly been vaccinated till now.
The people of the area are living in fear and anxiety and therefore we request the administration to kindly look into the matter seriously.
We humbly request your good offices to:
1. Take strict action against the persons responsible for this incident;
2. Send medical teams to the affected areas for treatment, vaccination and medical assistance to the people;
3. Conduct a proper and time-bound inquiry into the matter;
4. Direct the Food Safety Department and Veterinary Department to investigate the matter thoroughly and take action as per law;
5. Issue necessary public advisories and preventive measures for safety of the public.
We hope that the administration will take immediate steps in the interest of public health and safety.....................................
