Pappaya Cultivation Tips : പപ്പായ നന്നായി കായ പിടിക്കാൻ നല്ല വെയിലുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു വേണം നടാൻ. പപ്പായയിൽ ആൺ പൂക്കളും പെൺ പൂകളുമുണ്ട്. ആൺപൂക്കൾ കായപിടിക്കില്ല. പപ്പായക്ക് നല്ലവണ്ണം വെള്ളം വേണമെങ്കിലും നല്ല നീർവാർച്ച വേണം. വെള്ളം കെട്ടിക്കിടക്കുമ്പോൾ പപ്പായ കാപിടിക്കാൻ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് ആണ്. ടെറസിൽ വലിയ ചാക്കുകളിൽ വേണ്ട മുന്നൊരുക്കത്തോടെ പപ്പായ കൃഷി ചെയ്യാം. നല്ലയിനം വേര് പിടിച്ച തൈകളാണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടത്. കുരുവിനെക്കാൾ തൈകളാണ് നന്നാവുക. ഒന്നരയടിയെങ്കിലും നീളവും വീതിയും താഴ്ചയുമുള്ള കുഴി എടുക്കുക. ഇതിൽ 10-20 കിലോ ഉണക്കിപ്പൊടിച്ച ചാണകപ്പൊടിയും മേൽമണ്ണും മിക്സ്‌ ചെയ്ത് നിറക്കുക. ഇതിന് നടുവിൽ വേര് പിടിച്ച തൈ നടാം. വൈകുന്നേരം നടുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്. രണ്ട് തൈകൾക്കിടയിൽ 2 മീറ്ററെങ്കിലും അകലം വേണം. ഹൈബ്രിഡ് ഇനങ്ങൾക്ക് നല്ല വളപ്രയോഗം ആവശ്യമാണ്. നടുന്നതിന് മുന്പും നട്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞ് മൂന്ന് മാസത്തിനു ശേഷവും കുമ്മായം ചേർത്ത് കൊടുക്കണം.
