Klikk’s upcoming web series Jaisalmer Jomjomat, directed by Arnab Riingo Banerjee and produced by Ohendrila Banerjee under the Ring A Bell Films banner, offers a gripping first look that blends nostalgic homage with pulse-pounding suspense. Dropping on 26th May on Klikk, this Bengali-language series pays tribute to Satyajit Ray’s timeless classic Sonar Kella on its 50th anniversary, reimagining a thrilling desert journey with a fresh and contemporary twist.

Plot Tease

A Bengali family's vacation to the golden sands of Jaisalmer takes a dark turn when they unknowingly step into a drug cartel conspiracy. What begins as a homage to Sonar Kella turns into a high-stakes survival story. Packed with secrets, emotional turmoil, and shocking revelations, this five-episode thriller promises to keep audiences at the edge of their seats.

Cast & Performances

The ensemble cast brings together seasoned and emerging talents:

Sabyasachi Chowdhury as Neelanjan delivers intensity and depth.

Meghla Dasgupta as Rituparna adds charm and vulnerability.

Abhishek Singh (Ramen) and Devtanu (Rakesh) stand out in pivotal supporting roles.

Debashish Nath as Rajat, the obsessive bank manager-father, impresses with his layered performance.

Rajdeep Pal , Onkar Bhattacharya, Amrita Debnath, Shahir Raj, Moumita Paul, Soumitra Bose (Duoke), Soumya Mukherjee, Sarnabha Sadhukhan, and Pratik Roy contribute strongly to the ensemble, fleshing out the mystery with realism.

Direction & Production

Arnab Riingo Banerjee wears multiple hats—director, writer, cinematographer, editor—and the trailer reflects his cohesive vision. His storytelling blends adventure and thriller elements with cultural and emotional undertones. The screenplay and dialogues, co-written with Sabyasachi Chowdhury, are sharp and layered with tension.

Ohendrila Banerjee’s production values shine through. The desert visuals, crisp editing, and haunting background score by Shameek Kundu evoke a strong cinematic experience.

Technical Merits

Sound Design (Tirthankar Majumdar): Rich 5.1 surround effect enhances immersion.

Styling (Ohendrila Banerjee, Ish*ta Ghosh) and makeup (Sanju Haldar) stay grounded and authentic.

Folk music arrangements blended with mystery motifs set a distinct tone. Singer Sayari Dutta did a great job along with Sameek Kundu

Final Thoughts

Jaisalmer Jomjomat feels like a heartfelt tribute to Ray’s legacy, yet it creates its own identity through a modern narrative filled with danger, emotion, and suspense. The trailer does an excellent job of setting the mood without giving too much away. It promises not just a nostalgic trip, but a thrilling ride through the golden sands of Rajasthan.

Verdict: A well-crafted trailer that raises high expectations. Bengali OTT content just got a significant boost.
