*REASI POLICE FOIL ILLEGAL TIMBER SMUGGLING BID, SEIZE 7 QUINTALS OF KHAIR WOOD IN KATRA*

*Reasi, January 11, 2026:* In a swift and coordinated action against illegal timber smuggling, District Police Reasi, in collaboration with the Forest Department Range Katra, successfully intercepted and seized a consignment of illegally cut Khair wood during the intervening night of 10/01/2026 and 11/01/2026 in the Maghal area of Tehsil Katra.

Acting on specific information received at Police Station Katra regarding the illicit cutting and transportation of Khair trees, a police team was immediately deputed to the spot. Upon reaching the location, the team recovered approximately 07 quintals of Khair wood billets, loaded in a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK20B-1649, along with officials of the Forest Department, Range Katra.

The vehicle was being driven by Madan Lal S/O Mani Ram R/O Kandyar, Tehsil Katra.

During preliminary questioning, the driver failed to produce any valid transport permit and could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the possession and transportation of the Khair wood.

Consequently, the accused, along with the seized vehicle and timber, was brought to the Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The entire operation was carried out by 𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗣/𝗦 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽. 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗼, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗗𝗣𝗢 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘆, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗣 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗵. 𝗩𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗻, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦.

That on 09.01.2025 complainant namely * Attu Shah Owner of Shop, M/S Bhola Ornaments, RS Pura S/o Kewal Krishan R/o Ward No. 06, RS Pura lodged a written complaint stating therein that on the intervening night of 8/9-Jan-2025 some unknown miscreants attempted to commit theft by forcibly trying to break, open the lock of aforesaid shop. However, they could not succeed in their attempt.

On this *Case FIR No. 07/2026 U/S 303(2)/62 BNS* was registered at Police Station R S Pura and investigation started to nab the unknown thieves.

Acting swiftly, to nab the thieves a special team was constituted led by SHO Police Station R S Pura ,Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura and overall supervision of SP headquarters Jammu and based on the input from sources and with the help of technical assistance arrested thieves namely:-

सांबा: 11 जनवरी, 2026: मवेशियों की तस्करी के खिलाफ अपनी लगातार मुहिम जारी रखते हुए, सांबा पुलिस ने पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल के अधिकार क्षेत्र में मवेशियों की तस्करी की तीन अलग-अलग कोशिशों को सफलतापूर्वक नाकाम कर दिया। इन कोशिशों में, तीन मवेशी तस्करों को गिरफ्तार किया गया, छह मवेशियों को बचाया गया और अवैध परिवहन के लिए इस्तेमाल किए गए तीन वाहनों को जब्त किया गया।

पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल की एक पुलिस टीम गश्त ड्यूटी करते समय, पचोली के पास रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर JK21C-3904 वाले एक ऑटो लोड कैरियर को चेकिंग के लिए रोका। चेकिंग के दौरान, वाहन के अंदर एक मवेशी मिला जिसे बेरहमी से बांधा गया था और बिना किसी वैध अनुमति के अवैध रूप से ले जाया जा रहा था।

मवेशी तस्कर की पहचान मदन मोहन पुत्र सूरज प्रकाश निवासी राजिंदर पुरा बगूना तहसील विजयपुर जिला सांबा के रूप में हुई है, उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और वाहन भी जब्त कर लिया गया है।

पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल में मामला FIR नंबर 03/2026 धारा 223 BNS, 11 PCA एक्ट के तहत दर्ज किया गया है और जांच शुरू कर दी गई है।

एक अन्य घटना में, पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल की एक पुलिस टीम ने खारा मदाना में वाहन चेकिंग नाका ड्यूटी के दौरान, रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर JK21J-0613 वाले एक ऑटो लोड कैरियर को चेकिंग के लिए रोका। चेकिंग के दौरान, वाहन के अंदर 04 मवेशी मिले, जिन्हें बेरहमी से बांधा गया था और बिना किसी वैध अनुमति के अवैध रूप से ले जाया जा रहा था।

मवेशी तस्कर की पहचान जतिंदर कुमार पुत्र जगदीश राज निवासी खारा तहसील बारी ब्राह्मणा जिला सांबा के रूप में हुई है, उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और वाहन भी जब्त कर लिया गया है।

पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल में मामला FIR नंबर 04/2026 धारा 223 BNS, 11 PCA एक्ट के तहत दर्ज किया गया है और जांच शुरू कर दी गई है।

तीसरी घटना में, पुलिस स्टेशन पुरमंडल की एक पुलिस टीम पुरमंडल के टी चौक पर वाहन चेकिंग ड्यूटी करते समय, रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर JK20C-4085 वाले एक ऑटो लोड कैरियर को चेकिंग के लिए रोका। चेकिंग के दौरान, गाड़ी के अंदर एक गाय मिली, जिसे बेरहमी से बांधा गया था और बिना किसी वैलिड परमिशन के गैर-कानूनी तरीके से ले जाया जा रहा था।

गाय की तस्करी करने वाले अमीन, जो मोहम्मद यूसुफ का बेटा और तेली बस्ती बारी ब्राह्मणा जिला सांबा का रहने वाला है, को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और गाड़ी भी जब्त कर ली गई है।

Reportedly an E-Auto bearing registration number JK06C-9890 met with an accident today while travelling from Barshalla towards Barote. The incident occurred at around 12:10 hours near Barshalla.
As a result of the accident the driver Karan Kumar s/o Sham Sunder and Amit Kumar also son of Sham Sunder both residents of Barshalla Tehsil Thathri, sustained injuries. They were immediately shifted to PHC Thathri for medical treatment.
Reportedly during the course of treatment Karan Kumar succumbed to his injuries. The local police have been informed and further proceedings are underway.
