20 Quintals of Cow Hooves & Frozen Food Items Seized in Kupwara

Kupwara, Aug 11:

The Food Safety Department Kupwara, in coordination with the Revenue Department and Kupwara Police, today carried out an extensive inspection drive across various areas of the district.

During inspections at multiple restaurants and food outlets, officials seized a large quantity of frozen food items including cow and buffalo hooves which were found stored and sold in violation of food safety norms.

In total, around 20 quintals of these frozen products were confiscated and destroyed on the spot to prevent their circulation in the market. Officials said the action was part of a sustained campaign to ensure hygienic and safe food for the public, warning that strict legal measures will be taken against repeat offenders.

Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Mohd Rafiq, while speaking to the media, said that such drives will continue in the future to safeguard public health and maintain strict compliance with food safety standards.
