NOWSHERA, MARCH 16: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today conducted an extensive visit to sites of various ongoing development works in Nowshera to assess the progress on these vital projects.

He visited the Ashram, Town Hall, Shopping Complex, and Hospital Building in Nowshera. He emphasised the significance of timely completion of development works to enhance the public amenities.

During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the quality of construction works and directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of progress while maintaining high standards in work ex*****on.

He interacted with the officials and locals, seeking feedback on the infrastructural developments in the area.

While reviewing the hospital building, he stressed the importance of equipping the facility with modern healthcare infrastructure to cater to the medical needs of the people.

At the Shopping Complex, he discussed the measures to boost local business and ensure the project's early completion for economic growth.

Regarding the work on Town Hall, he emphasized creation of a vibrant public space for community engagements.

The Deputy Chief Minister also visited the Ashram, where he assured complete support for further improving the facilities to benefit the residents and the visitors alike.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated government's commitment towards accelerating developmental projects for welfare of the people. He urged the officials to address any bottlenecks and ensure the projects are completed within the stipulated timelines.

He was accompanied by ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandon, Executive Engineer PWD and other district and sectoral officers, who provided updates on the progress of the ongoing works.

*DDC Rajouri resolves long-pending road issue in Darhal Inspects progress of ongoing development works*

RAJOURI, MARCH 16: District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of Darhal, where he resolved the long-pending issue of the NABARD funded SDH to Dara via Sagarawat road, paving the way for its ex*****on.

Following his intervention, the road construction is now in progress, bringing much-needed relief to the local populace.

Meanwhile, the DDC also inspected the progress of the PMGSY road from Darhal to via Katemar, assessing the ongoing work and directing officials to expedite the project for timely completion.

In addition, he met with public delegations, patiently hearing their concerns and resolving their grievances on the spot, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to responsive governance.

Later, the DDC inspected several other ongoing developmental works in the area and emphasized the need for quality ex*****on and adherence to deadlines to ensure public welfare. He also stressed the effective utilization of assets created under the Swachh Bharat Mission, directing officials to ensure their proper upkeep and functionality for sustained community benefit.

In a continued action against drug peddlers, Rajouri Police has achieved a major success by apprehending a notorious drug Peddler in Thanamandi area.

A Police Team from Police Station Thanamandi led by SHO Thanamandi arrested Mohd Tahir Naik S/O Abdul Salam Naik resident of Kote Behrote Thanamandi. During his Personal search *6.30 grams of he**in like Narcotics Substance* recovered from his possession.

In this regard a case FIR No. 34/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Thanamandi and further investigation is underway to uncover any links to a larger drug network in Rajouri.

*Woman Arrested in Narcotics Case, Significant Recovery Made*

Rajouri Police have achieved a major breakthrough in an ongoing narcotics case with the arrest of a woman involved in drug trafficking. The accused identified as Shabnam Kouser wife of Mohd Shakoor resident of Dhanidhar Rajouri was arrested in connection with Case FIR No. 24/2025 under the NDPS Act.

During the search the following narcotic substances and related items were recovered from her possession:

- 17 grams of a he**in-like narcotic substance.
- 138 grams of a narcotic powder-like substance.
- 121 psychotropic banned tablets.
- 06 digital weighing machines.
- 03 rolls of foil paper.

This arrest is linked to a prior operation conducted on 06/03/2025 during which two individuals Ajaz Ahmed S/O Mohd Yaqoob resident of Kanthol Rajouri and Afraz Khan S/O Mohd Alyas resident of Khanyalkot Thanamandi were apprehended at a naka checkpoint at Kotranka.

During sustained interrogation the arrested individuals revealed the involvement of Shabnam Kouser leading to her subsequent arrest.

It is pertinent to mention that her husband is already booked in multiple NDPS cases, presently lodged in Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected as the police continue their crackdown on drug trafficking in Rajouri.

RAJOURI, MARCH 5: In a major initiative to enhance the aesthetics of Rajouri town, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today kick-started the beautification project, aimed at transforming the area around the airfield and adjacent road into a visually appealing and pedestrian-friendly zone.

*The project, which gained momentum following the personal intervention of DC Rajouri, has been made possible through strong civil-military liaison, with the Indian Army permitting development work in the designated area. The start of this initiative clearly reflects the robust coordination between the civil administration and the Indian Army in working towards public welfare and urban development.*

To commence the project, ₹50 lakh has been earmarked, with additional funds to be allocated as the work progresses.

SUNDERBANI, MARCH 02: Government Degree College Sunderbani today organised an awareness camp under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma. The event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of substance abuse and to promote a drug-free society.

Principal Government Degree College Sunderbani Ashu Vashishat was the chief guest on the occasion. The camp was presided over by the District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem.

In a landmark step towards digital policing Rajouri Police has registered its first *Electronic First Information Report (e-FIR)* following a complaint lodged via WhatsApp.

A complainant from a far-flung area of the district was unable to visit the police station. However having attended an awareness program on New Criminal Laws organized by Rajouri Police he learned that an FIR can also be lodged through e-mail and digital platforms. Acting on this knowledge he submitted his complaint via WhatsApp.

In response Police Station Dharamsal swiftly registered the
e-FIR. This prompt action highlights Rajouri Police's commitment to leveraging digital technology for efficient accessible and people-centric policing.

*Measures taken to ease traffic congestion in Rajouri Town*

RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 24: A team of district administration today initiated several measures to streamline traffic movement and ease congestion in main market areas of Rajouri town ahead of Maha Shivratri festival and Ramzan.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Khajuria along with a team of officers from different departments conducted the market inspection in the city and Old Bus Stand areas.

During the inspection tour, the officers assessed traffic congestion issues and took concrete measures to streamline vehicular movement for public convenience. *District Police Rajouri Achieves Major Success in Anti-Drug Operation*

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Nowshera Police Station have recovered *504 grams of he**in-like narcotics substance* and *Rs. 5.14 lakh in cash* during a search operation at the residence of one of the accused Jaswinder in Lamberi Nowshera.

The search was conducted by a police team led by Insp. Arjun Magotra, SHO Nowshera as part of the investigation into Case FIR No. 178/2024 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act. Notably, on the disclosure of the accused, 6 kg of he**in-like narcotics substance had already been recovered recently , bringing the total recovery in this case to 11 kg 804 grams of he**in-like narcotics substance along with Rs 5.14 lakh in cash.

Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to this network.

The Rajouri Police remain committed to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in narcotics trade.

*Rajouri Admin finalises arrangements for JKPSC Exam*

RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 17: Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajiv Khajuria today finalized the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) exam being held in two shifts on February 23, 2025.

Chairing a meeting, the ADC directed the concerned authorities to install proper signages near all designated examination centers to facilitate candidates. He instructed the Principals of the identified exam centers to ensure proper seating arrangements, cleanliness, adequate ventilation, and proper lighting to provide a conducive examination environment.

To strengthen the monitoring mechanism, the ADC informed that in addition to the observers deployed by JKPSC, the district administration has also designated additional observers to oversee the examination process. He directed the District Treasury Officer (DTO) to ensure the secure receipt and distribution of sensitive examination materials under CCTV surveillance.

The Traffic Department was tasked with ensuring smooth traffic regulation, especially near the examination centers, to prevent congestion and facilitate the movement of candidates and examination staff.

Further, the Executive Engineer PDD was asked to take measures for uninterrupted power supply at all examination centers, while the Executive Engineer PHE was directed to make adequate arrangements for drinking water.

The Police authorities were asked to make foolproof security arrangements at all examination centers and provide police escorts for the transportation of exam materials from the District Strong Room to the examination centers and back.

*Rajouri Administration, Police Department organize Awareness Program on New Criminal Laws*

The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Police Department, organized a daylong awareness program today at the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow to educate the public about the three newly enacted criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). These laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024, replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act (IEA).

The program aimed to generate awareness among the masses regarding these transformative laws and their role in modernizing the criminal justice system.

*Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, emphasized the need for public awareness about these legal reforms, highlighting their significance in ensuring justice and transparency.
