The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has imposed import restrictions on laptops, tablets, and personal computers. From Nov 1, 2023, companies like Apple, Samsung, HP, and other tech giants will need to obtain govt licenses to import such products into India! This strategic move aligns with India's vision for self-reliance and reduced reliance on imports, particularly from China (a country notorious for data theft).

While this move could boost the 'Make in India' initiative and lead to new job opportunities, industry experts are anticipating a hike in prices for laptops and such products. Only time will tell if this policy works out as intended!
