Paras Hospital Death Controversy | Doctor's Clearify

Srinagar, May 25: In a somber development, Paras Health Srinagar has confirmed the unfortunate demise of a 36-year-old patient, Wasim Ahmed Pathan, who passed away on May 24 following post-surgical complications after undergoing treatment for colon cancer.

According to an official statement issued by the hospital, Mr. Pathan was admitted on May 15 and underwent surgery for carcinoma of the left colon. The hospital described his initial recovery as positive, noting that by the sixth post-operative day he was stable, ambulatory, and on a fiber-free oral diet. A follow-up call on the seventh day post-surgery reaffirmed his stable condition.

However, tragedy struck on the night of May 22 when Mr. Pathan returned to the emergency department in a state of shock, complaining of severe abdominal pain. He suffered a cardiac arrest upon arrival but was successfully resuscitated by the medical team. Emergency exploration revealed hemoperitoneum—blood in the peritoneal cavity—with diffuse bleeding attributed to a possible coagulopathy, though no major bleeding source was found at the surgical site.

Despite intensive interventions and ICU support, Mr. Pathan suffered a second cardiac arrest and succumbed to multi-organ failure on May 24.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Ahmed’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the hospital said. “We remain in close communication with the family to provide them with all necessary information and support.”

The incident has prompted sorrow among the community and raises awareness about the rare but serious risks associated with post-operative complications, even after seemingly successful surgeries.

Ruhullah Walks Out of NC Working Committee Meeting After Ideological Clash With Omar Abdullah

Tensions reached a boiling point at the National Conference Working Committee meeting held on 21st May 2025, as Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi delivered a scathing critique of the party’s current direction—publicly confronting the core working committee and ultimately walking out of the meeting in protest.

According to multiple sources present in the room, the meeting began with routine praise for Omar Abdullah’s administrative performance. However, when it came time for Ruhullah to speak, he took a sharply different line—cutting through what he called “superficial applause” to address what he believes is the party’s ideological failure.

“This is not a public milan. This is a Working Committee meeting—and we are betraying the people by abandoning the core promises we made in our manifesto. Our fight is for Article 370, not for day-to-day bureaucratic governance. That fight includes statehood—but goes far beyond it.”

Ruhullah went on to accuse the party of retreating from its foundational ideals, and failing to stand up for political prisoners, autonomy, and the constitutional identity of Jammu & Kashmir.

“Kashmiris haven’t endured decades of violence just for bijli, paani, sadak. Our people are asking where this party stands. We owe them more than silence and municipal talking points.”

At this point, Omar Abdullah reportedly interrupted—visibly agitated—and said:

“Ruhullah, you’re contradicting yourself. The very issues you’re talking about—dignity, rights, identity—will be addressed through statehood. If you believe in this fight so much, come contest the Budgam by-election and be part of the government. We never questioned your decision to contest the Parliament elections—even though you once said you wouldn’t, post-370.”

To this, Ruhullah delivered what sources described as a stinging response:

“Let’s get this straight—I never asked for that seat. You approached me. And I’m telling you right now—I’m ready to resign if it helps restore clarity to our cause. I don’t need a chair to speak for the people. I walk among them, I listen to them—and they’re disillusioned. They feel abandoned by a party that once stood for something bigger than power.”

As tensions escalated, Omar reportedly tried to move the meeting forward, saying:

“I’m the Chief Minister. I meet people across the state—and what they want is basic governance. That’s our immediate responsibility.”

Shortly after this remark, Ruhullah is said to have stood up and walked out of the meeting, leaving a stunned silence in his wake.

Insiders say many in the room were moved by Ruhullah’s blunt honesty.

This dramatic exchange has sparked intense internal debate and is likely to reverberate far beyond the confines of the NC headquarters, potentially reshaping the party’s future course and reviving calls for a principled political movement in the Valley.

Selection for Sale: Whistleblowers Slam Sham Recruitment in J&K’s ABDM

Whistleblowers Demand Probe Into Dubious ABDM Appointments

Srinagar, May 14: A group of qualified public health professionals has blown the whistle on widespread corruption, favoritism, and nepotism in recent appointments under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in Jammu & Kashmir.

They allege that top officials have orchestrated a selection process to favor their relatives and close associates for key posts in the Project Management Unit.

Despite the Chief Secretary's intervention halting the selection twice, the same handpicked candidates were reappointed—without interviews or transparency—through an obscure advertisement and a questionable recruitment process via NetCreative Minds.

Notable among the controversial selections are Dr. Majid Bhat, Duha Majeed, Sonalika Jamwal, and Mehvish Mumtaz—each reportedly chosen not through merit, but through proximity to power. These appointments, like several others, appear to be the result of a handpicked process that bypassed transparency and fairness.

System in Crisis: Nepotism Cripples Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in J&K

Insiders reveal a disturbing reality behind the scenes of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in Jammu & Kashmir: for the past two years, the mission’s functioning has spiraled into disarray. What was envisioned as a transformative step in digital healthcare delivery is now plagued by deep-rooted nepotism, administrative mismanagement, and systematic favoritism.

Sources from within the department allege that the ABDM has been reduced to a shadow of its potential, crippled by a network of insiders handpicking candidates and allocating key roles to relatives, acquaintances, and political favourites—leaving merit and transparency by the wayside.

The fallout? Operational stagnation, low public trust, and a growing disconnect between the mission's goals and its ground reality. The sister organization of the Health Department, is now reportedly suffering from the spillover of dysfunction.

Unless a high-level independent probe is ordered and accountability enforced, the ABDM in J&K risks collapsing under the weight of corruption it was meant to combat.

These revelations point to deep-rooted cronyism within the Health & Medical Education Department.

The whistleblowers are now demanding a high-level independent inquiry and immediate scrapping of the tainted selection process, calling for a fair and transparent recruitment drive.

The aggrieved candidates have appealed to the Chief Secretary to intervene and launch a thorough investigation into what they describe as sham and biased recruitments within the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Despite repeated attempts by reporters to seek a response, Mission Director Nazim Zai Khan remained unreachable, choosing not to comment on the allegations.

From Tarpaulin to Triumph: Tribal Girl from Pulwama Scores 92.6% Without Coaching or Comforts

In a world where privilege often dictates opportunity, 18-year-old Shabnam Sidiq from Panner Tral, Pulwama, has defied every odd and rewritten the narrative of resilience and grit.

Living under a tarpaulin tent, without a proper home, a study room, or even basic comforts, Shabnam achieved an astounding 92.6% in her Class 12 board exams—without any private coaching or special support. Her makeshift shelter, exposed to the harsh Kashmiri weather, stood witness to countless hours of focused study and unshakable determination.

A proud member of the tribal Gujjar community, Shabnam is not just a student; she’s a symbol of hope for thousands of underprivileged children across the region. Her success story breaks through the silence of forgotten corners like Panner Tral and proves that ambition needs no address—only courage.

As Kashmir applauds her incredible feat, Shabnam Sidiq becomes the face of inspiration, reminding us all that dreams don’t need walls—they need wings.

Lives at Risk: J&K Minister Javed Rana Calls for Mandatory Bunkers Along LoC

Mendhar, India – Amid escalating concerns over civilian safety near the volatile Line of Control (LoC), Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Environment & Ecology and Tribal Affairs, has strongly advocated for the construction of mandatory bunkers in border villages to shield residents from cross-border shelling.

During his second consecutive visit to Mendhar, a shelling-hit region, Minister Rana assessed damage to homes, livestock, and public infrastructure while interacting with distressed families. Expressing solidarity and grief, he promised swift government intervention, including expedited compensation and restoration of basic services.

Calling for a proactive, long-term security approach, Rana instructed local officials to devise a comprehensive action plan focused on both immediate relief and structural resilience. The proposed mandatory bunkers are seen as a life-saving measure for populations constantly under threat in this tense border zone.
