In the end, Calabasas Confidential has nothing that can distinguish it from its peers. It’s a repetitive mess that always manufactures drama to get people to keep watching. Still, it never really showcases any of its cast’s personalities that will get genuine attention from viewers. It’s like every other reality TV show on the internet; beyond being great as a casual watch, it’s generic slop that adds nothing to our lives.

Cast: Alexie Olivo, Ben Favaedi, Dylan Wolf, Emilie Nelson, Emma Medrano, Hercy Miller, Jemma Durrant, Jodie Woods, Kimora Lewis, Nicole Sahebi, Preston Pippen, Raine Michaels, Sterling Retzlaff, Suede Brooks

Netflix’s Calabasas Confidential delivers influencer drama, messy relationships and luxury-fuelled chaos in a glossy, bingeable reality TV package.

Murder Mindfully Season 2 continues to be a unserious yet deeply enjoyable satire that handles several complex themes efficiently. The performances continue to be fantastic, with its biggest asset being its refusal to become a conventional crime thriller. The pacing stumbles here and there, and there are definitely some threads that feel unnecessary and unexplored. The series will definitely be worth watching simply for the chaotic protagonist and his henchman.

Cast: Tom Schilling, Britta Hammelstein, Murathan Muslu, Peter Jordan, Emily Cox, Friederike Kempter, Bastian Reiber

Director: Martina Plura

Murder Mindfully Season 2 review: Netflix’s German dark comedy returns with more chaos, clever satire, and a stronger emotional core.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 is a noticeable improvement from the first season and is endlessly enjoyable. It taps into the emotions of its protagonist so well that it’s hard not to follow along as she desperately tries to right the wrongs. However, things aren’t always in her hands, and it deepens the devastation more than she could’ve imagined. Overall, this one’s very well done.

Cast: Emma Myers, Zain Iqbal, Asha Banks, Raiko Gohara, Jude Morgan-Collie, Yali Topol Margalith, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, Henry Ashton, Carla Woodcock, Mathew Baynton, Gary Beadle, Anna Maxwell Martin, Peter Sullivan

Directors: Jill Robertson, Asim Abbasi

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 review: Emma Myers shines in a darker, emotionally gripping Netflix mystery filled with obsession and twists.

Spider-Noir is an engaging, funny and arresting watch that nails the noir vibes to the T. Although it can feel a bit overwhelming and slow sometimes, it’s definitely anything but generic and does a great job reminding us of why people should take notice.

Cast: Nicolas Cage, Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, Brendan Gleeson

Showrunners: Oren Uziel, Steve Lightfoot

Spider-Noir review: Nicolas Cage shines in Prime Video’s dark Marvel noir thriller that reinvents superhero television with mystery, style and chaos.

Netflix’s Ladies First arrives with a provocative premise and a talented cast, but the gender-swap comedy struggles to deliver sharp satire. Despite committed performances from Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike, the film relies too heavily on repetitive role-reversal jokes and surface-level commentary.

Cast: Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis, Weruche Opia, Kathryn Hunter, Kadiff Kirwan, Bill Paterson

Director: Thea Sharrock

Netflix’s Ladies First review: Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike star in a gender-swap satire that struggles to balance comedy and commentary.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War has its engaging moments, but there’s nothing that differentiates it from others in the genre. While it might be fun for a one-time watch, its over reliance of cliches and its repetitive nature is burdensome and boring. The performances are the film’s best part, but it lacks passion and punch. The script lacks intelligence, tension and political complexity that once defined the franchise, which is heartbreaking to say the least. Overall, this one’s extremely disappointing.

Cast: John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kell, Max Beesley, JJ Feild, Douglas Hodge, With Betty Gabriel, Sienna Miller

Director: Andrew Bernstein

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War review — John Krasinski leads a slick spy thriller that delivers action and tension but lacks emotional depth.

The WONDERfools is a fun watch. Despite the mammoth runtime, it does a good job of presenting a heartfelt, messy and warm story about fear during unpredictable times. Although its pacing falters quite a bit, its ability to embrace its flaws will get under your skin. With excellent performances, this one clearly makes the effort to be different with its fun blend of comedy and supernatural chaos.

Cast: Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, Im Seong-jae, Kim Hae-sook, Son Hyun-joo

Director: Yoo In-shik

Original Title: 원더풀스

Kartavya feels half-baked despite the topic that it handles. The themes are tone are on-point, as are the performances, but overall, the narrative lacks punch, with most of the runtime not having much going on other than exposition. It’s tense and emotionally grounded, but the screenplay falters to a point where audiences will fail to understand the point of it all. Overall, this one’s good enough for a one-time watch, but leaves you wanting more.

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Dwivedi, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari, Yudhvir Ahlawat

Writer & Director: Pulkit

Netflix’s Kartavya review: Saif Ali Khan delivers a compelling performance in this gritty crime drama exploring duty, corruption, and personal sacrifice.
