President Barrow Declares Eid Public Holiday

State House, Banjul, 8 April 2024: The Office of the President informs the public that His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, is pleased to declare Wednesday, 10th, and Thursday, 11th April 2024, as public holidays throughout The Gambia in observance of the Muslim feast of Eid-ul-Fitr locally called ‘Koriteh’.

President Barrow wishes all Gambians, home and abroad, a happy and blessed Eid on behalf of the government and the First Family.

PROGRESS UPDATE: BERTIL HARDING HIGHWAY OVERPASS

As part of our efforts to keep the public informed on the status of works, The Gambia OIC Secreatraiat and its stakeholders are pleased to present a progress update on the significant works completed and ongoing at the Two Overpass Bridges.

Phase 1 of The Bertil Harding Highway Widening Project features two overpass bridges located at Old Yundum Junction and Turntable Brusubi. Progress is as follows:

OLD YUNDUM OVERPASS

- Pilling, blinding, beams, pile foundations and pier, formworks and reinforcement work completed.
- Concrete casting for the deck slab completed.
- Backfilling in layers for both ramps/approaches in progress.
- Grouting completed.
- Pre-stressing completed.
- Retaining walls on both ramps/approaches completed.
- Removal of formworks in progress.

BRUSUBI ROUNDABOUT OVERPASS

- Pilling, blinding, pier foundations, piers and pile caps completed at the Overpass located at km 9+600.
- Formwork for the deck slab for overpass commenced.

The Contractors of the Bertil Harding Highway Widening Project are doubling efforts to complete the project in a timely manner without compromising quality.
