West Bengal Gets First AC Local Train – Sealdah to Ranaghat Route Flagged Off

Sunday, August 10, 2025, marked a historic day for West Bengal’s railway network as the state witnessed the launch of its first-ever AC local train service — also the first such service in eastern India. The inaugural run took place on the Sealdah–Ranaghat route, with the formal flag-off ceremony held at around 11 a.m. Railway officials, dignitaries, and commuters gathered to witness the momentous occasion.

Starting Monday, August 11, the AC local will be open for public service, promising a comfortable, modern, and climate-controlled travel experience for daily passengers. Officials expressed pride and optimism, calling it a big leap towards upgrading suburban train travel in the region.
