An Unconventional Start

Hailing from Srinagar, Jibran Gulzar’s journey as an entrepreneur began after a Computer Science degree at Chandigarh University in 2019.

Late one night during his university days, he ordered a burger for  ₹200 only to realise it cost ₹110 in the restaurant. “I noticed a major difference between in-restaurant prices and prices on food delivery apps. That didn’t make sense to me, and it made me curious. I started digging deeper and realised that the pricing structure on these platforms was fundamentally unfair to both customers and restaurant partners,” he recalls.

By 2020, Jibran noticed that major food delivery platforms had shifted focus from empowering restaurants to charging them steep commissions of 30–35%, making it unsustainable for local businesses. He envisioned a platform that put restaurants first, offering fairness and control. In the same year, amidst the unique challenges of operating in Kashmir, including political instability and limited internet access, he launched Gatoes. What began as a simple delivery platform quickly grew into one of J&K’s most downloaded apps.

In an exclusive chat for the 30 Under 30, Piyush Mohnani, the director of Tessile Clothing Pvt Ltd and co-founder of ASUKA, walks us through his journey leading marketing operations, finance, and the western wear design vertical of ASUKA.

“Fashion has always been second nature to me, an extension of my creative instincts.”

In terms of his education, Piyush completed his schooling at Modern School Vasant Vihar, holds a bachelor’s degree from Jai Hind College, Mumbai, a master’s from NIFT Delhi, and advanced pattern-making training from Savile Row, London. Piyush specialises in assimilating his creative instinct with business acumen.

From childhood sketching and painting to building his own modern menswear label, Piyush has always had an eye for detail and a sense of personal style. Today, his venture, ASUKA, has become known for refreshing colour palettes, clean silhouettes, and wearable art.

Today, the parent company, Tessile Clothing Pvt Ltd, manufactures and wholesales ethnic and western menswear, womenswear, and home furnishing products. They produce for labels such as Louis Philippe, Peter England, and Linen Club. They make corporate uniforms for clients, including DLF, Air India, Vistara, GMR, and the Taj Group.

Their retail arm, ASUKA, runs stores in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Asuka also caters to individual shoppers and large-scale orders and has the flexibility for wholesale, and also supplies premium retailers across India. Additionally, Piyush is also leading Khaabka, their online home furnishing brand.

Entrepreneurs Today reached out to Shivansh Sharma, a Scientist, Artist, Entrepreneur and a bit of an Adrenaline Ju**ie, to learn more about his current ventures in the beverage industry.

The 2-year-old beverage brands, Cnergy and Sober Monkey, founded by Shivansh Sharma, are flipping scripts of how the “Health drinks” companies package and market their products.

He calls both of them a subtle rebellion against everything that passes off as “healthy” in the Indian beverage space.

The Spark

Shivansh didn’t grow up with a dream of launching beverage brands. But he did grow up around labs, audits, formulations, and conversations that often involved compliance deadlines and quality benchmarks. His family’s pharmaceutical business gave him a taste of what rigour really looked like.

When Shivansh signed up for a degree in chemical engineering, he soon realised chemical engineering was nothing like the chemistry he’d once loved.

Though Shivansh had always pictured himself building a business, the path wasn’t without its share of uncertainties and moments that felt like he was starting all over again from scratch.

However, along the way, he spotted a glaring gap in the beverage industry. This widely accepted belief is that ‘if it’s healthy, it has to taste bad,’ made him question why can’t real, healthy product taste good.

At just the age of 18, Aashwi Pandya realised that real estate in India was locked behind a twenty-five lakh rupee entry barrier. The situation was dire, and Aashwi believed that property should be made accessible to everyone, not just those with deep pockets.

Founder and CEO of Berzit, Aashwi, built the online platform that digitalises fractional real estate and lets investors start with as little as two lakh rupees. Users can own a share of commercial properties from Dubai to the US and Europe, sell their stake at any time, and earn profits based on the equity they hold.

Aashwi calls this the stock marketisation of real estate. She adds,
