Four years ago, on this day, we started our ‘very own, unplanned’ Darjeeling Trip. We arrived in the ‘Queen of Hills’ with no itineraries, no contacts, just a desire to explore. When the cab driver dropped us in front of the Ramada Hotel, we found out that our hotel was very far from the mall. We had two backpacks and no other things to carry then. We climbed up and up and found our cozy hamlet at the end of the steepy lane. After refreshing, we came to the mall and started walking around it. Visiting the mall and strolling around it for the very first time, watching the passersby, school students, tourists, clicking numerous photographs of everything and putting them on Insta stories – the memory is engraved in my heart forever.

While sitting on the stairs in the afternoon, we decided to visit some offbeat villages the next day. Kaustav knew the location of the Govt. registered taxi stand and we went there to look for a driver. It was a late evening with no crowd, as it was March and the weather was not that favourable to be on the road. There we met Yadav ji, our driver cm guide for the next day for our offbeat experience.

The next morning, he came and took us in his jeep and started for the trip. We told him that we want to avoid tourist places and crowds and if he has a better plan for us, he can suggest. From the very next moment, he became that ultimate ‘guide’ for us. He took us to the hidden places where literally no one goes. He told us all the stories, all the details we needed to know about Darjeeling. He took us to places where Kaustav could take pictures and videos without any disturbances. That’s not all – we even did a small trek to listen to some exotic birds.

After that day, Yadav ji became our friend. A 55 years old driver, originally from Bihar, but living in Darjeeling since his childhood, became our ‘cherished person’ in Darjeeling.

Cut to 2025, in February, we had our dream trip. We both took our parents to Darjeeling. It wasn’t an easy trip for us, as four of them are senior citizens with multiple physical issues and there is a 21-month old toddler who needs attention more than anything. This time too, we had no itineraries. We just booked our accommodation beforehand, near the mall, as our parents cannot walk like us, and that’s all. After reaching, we both went to take a stroll, and was thinking where to take them on the next day.

Whom to call? Where to go? And, suddenly Yadav ji came up in both of our minds.

And, you know what? We met him again. Sadly, he became more aged and lost his wife one year ago, but the enthusiasm – was just like our previous trip. This time he planned our road trip differently. He took us to different places, rather say easy places where our parents can enjoy. He told us about that Darjeeling, which we generally don’t bother about. Because we are not locals, we are tourists but we contribute to the lives of the locals.

Our day trip in Darjeeling with our parents ended happily. They were so happy to have a beautiful trip and it was possible just because of Yadav ji.

Writing this memory here is like cherishing those moments shared with our finest driver cm guide in one of our favourite places, Darjeeling. He is not on any social media platforms, so tagging him isn’t possible. We are just here to thank him for making our trip unforgettable.

These pictures are taken at a gap of four years, but at the same place by the same person, Yadav ji.

New Year's in the Mountains: To Go or Not to Go? 👇

As the clock ticks towards midnight on December 31st, many of us dream of welcoming the New Year with a bang. For some, this means escaping to the mountains, toasting to the new year with breathtaking views. Others prefer the cozy warmth of home or the vibrant atmosphere of a chic café. And of course, spending the evening solo is perfectly acceptable!

But if you're planning an adventurous getaway to the mountains like Manali, Mussoorie, or Shimla, to recreate that "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" magic, it might be wise to reconsider.

Seeing so many pictures and videos of the madness on the social media platforms, we've been remembering our trip back in 2021 when we faced similar situations. And, that's why, we thought to write it here. We paid the high cost of Mountain Magic. So, thought to share some tips for better travel:

Tips for a Safer and More Affordable Mountain Escape👇

✅Park responsibly: Avoid blocking roads and causing traffic jams if you're travelling in your own vehicle.
✅Prioritize safety: Avoid overcrowded areas, especially if traveling with children or elderly companions.
✅Travel with like-minded people: Make your group beforehand and stick with your own group.
✅Budget wisely: Book accommodations well in advance to secure the best rates and avoid exorbitant charges. Consider budget-friendly options like homestays or guesthouses.
✅Be aware of fraudulent travel agencies: Always choose a reputed one or a company with whom your friends or near ones travelled once. Do not go with the "lowest" or "cheapest" words.
✅Be prepared: Pack snacks and ready-to-eat meals for your journey. Be mentally prepared that any time anything can happen because of the severe weather.
✅Respect the environment: Avoid littering and minimize your impact on the fragile mountain ecosystem.

Have a safe journey!

Guess where?! 😍
Hint: One of the best places on this earth where you'll find nature's symphony: where majestic mountains embrace a vibrant rainbow and a graceful bird dances in harmony. ❤️

So, this was our last day in an idyllic village in North Sikkim and we were in a hurry to checkout. It was also our last day to catch some magical glimpses of Kanchenjunga after rain. 😐

After waking up, when we saw the sky was clear we literally ran towards the viewpoint. But, we could not reach and we need not. We stopped somewhere in the middle and captured this majestic moment from the roof of a house. 😛

It was a moment to cherish for life. ❤️

And, guess what, the valley opposite the mountain was also looking spectacular when sunrays kissed the gorge. It was a sight to behold, memories to treasure. 🙂

Stay with us to check out some of the beautiful landscapes we captured in Sikkim. 🤗

Whispers of the Rainy Sea! 🐚

Where the sea meets our souls, we discover that life's greatest treasures are the friends who sail alongside us. In the gentle embrace of the salty breeze and the rhythmic symphony of crashing waves, we find solace and rejuvenation. Together, we explore the depths of laughter, share secrets beneath the sun-kissed skies, and create memories that dance in the tides of time. 💑

As the sun paints the horizon with hues of gold and crimson, we gather on the shores, our hearts intertwined like seashells upon the sandy canvas. In this haven of friendship, we unlock the power of connection, understanding, and unconditional support. With every wave that caresses the shore, we are reminded of the ebb and flow of life's journey and the unwavering presence of true companions.👨‍❤️‍👨

Where the sea meets our souls, we learn the profound truth that life's greatest treasures cannot be measured by the sands of time, but by the connections we make and the friendships we nurture. So, let us cherish these moments, the salty air on our lips, and the laughter echoing against the waves. For in the depths of these friendships, we find joy, fulfillment, and a forever anchor in the sea of life.👩‍❤️‍👩

Tag your true companions and share your special moments with them in the comments. ❤️

And, the destination! ❤️

Remember the hiking trail in our previous post? Well, we reached here after the hike. It was a quaint monastery and when we climbed up the stairs, the clouds were floating in front us. It was undoubtedly a magical moment to capture!

The hiking trail 🗻
Remember, in our last post when we told you that we started hiking on a cloudy morning, well the trail was like this. It was raining sometimes, the road was wet, but the feelings when we recall, it's still warm and fresh. ❤️

We would like to thank and for telling us about this beautiful location and guiding us throughout the whole trail. ❤️
