बाइबिल कैलेंडर के चौथे महीने 17 तम्माज़ (23 जुलाई) को तीन सप्ताह का उपवास और प्रार्थना शुरू होगी, इस दौरान इज़राइल राष्ट्र माउंट सिनाई में अपने विद्रोह के लिए शोक मनाता है और पश्चाताप करता है जहां उनके पूर्वजों ने स्वर्ण बछड़े की पूजा की थी। उनके विद्रोह के कारण मूसा ने दस आज्ञा को तोड़ दिया। दुःख के तीन सप्ताह भी पहले और दूसरे मंदिर के विनाश की याद दिलाते हैं।

नए नियम में चर्च के लिए इन घटनाओं का महत्व इस बात से अवगत होना और जानना है कि जब भी, इस्राएलियों ने, प्रभु परमेश्वर के खिलाफ विद्रोह किया, तो उन्हें उनके क्रोध का सामना करना पड़ा और उन्हें दंडित किया गया। ये घटनाएँ हमें वफादार बने रहने और प्रभु परमेश्वर की सेवा करने और विद्रोह न करने में मदद करती हैं।

The fourth month in the biblical calendar the 17th of Tammaz (23rd July) begins a three weeks of fasting and prayer as the nation of Israel morns and repents for their rebellion at mount Sainai the worship of the Golden calf and the subsequent breakking of the Ten Commandment by Moses. the three weeks also is a stalk reminder of the destrustion of the first and second temple .
The significance of this to the New Tstament church is to be aware and know that when they the Israelites rebel they faced the judgement of God. These events will help us to remain faithful and serve the Lord.
