*District Police Kulgam seeks help of general public to identify the male dead body*

December 05 : It is to inform general public that one male unidentified dead body, age about 30 years died due to road accident at Qazigund this evening. The dead body has been kept in the mortuary of emergency hospital Qazigund, Kulgam.

6 Kulgam workers dead as many injured in Shimla road accident

Kulgam, Dec 04: At least six workers from south Kashmir's Kulgam district died, and as many were injured in a road accident in Shima district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday morning, police said.

Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that six people have died when a truck, they were travelling in, fell into a gorge in Kararghat.

He said three persons died on the spot while others died at a hospital. "Six others were also injured are currently under treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH)," he said.

The deceased have been identified as Fareed (24), Gulab (43), Shabir (19), Talib (23), Gulzar (30), and Mushtaq (30)—all residents of Kulgam.

The injured were identified as Ranjit, driver of the vehicle, Aslam, Talib Hussain, Akash Kumar, Ajay Thakur, and Manjoor—(KNO)

*97 families shifted to safe location after Chenab river inundates Akhnoor village*

Jammu, July 22: At least 97 families have been shifted to safer location after water from Chenab river inundated Garkhal village in Akhnoor sub-division of Jammu district on Saturday.

An official told that a massive rescue operation was launched in the village after Chenab river breached protection wall today.

He said that a few days ago 43 families were shifted, however, due to heavy rainfall since morning the situation deteriorated further as Chenab river breached protection wall and inundated the village.

Sub Divisional Police Officer Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma said 97 families have been shifted to safer places and temporary shelters that have also been established for them.

He said that situation may escalate further in the village if more water flows in from Chenab river due to heavy rainfall.

High level panel clears names of 31 officers for induction into IPS; To get cadre ; to take call on batches

JAMMU: A high-level panel have green signal to induction of 31 Jammu & Kashmir Police officers into the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Representatives of the Union Public Service Commission, Union Home Ministry and J&K government including Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Home Secretary Raj Kumar Goyal and Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh were part of the meeting.

Sources told Cross Town News that the panel cleared names of Maqsood ul Zaman, Mubassir Latifi, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Suhail Munawar Mir, Rashmi Wazir, Rajeshwar Singh, Sandeep Wazir, Anita Sharma, Sameer Rekhi, Jatinder Singh Johar, Swarn Singh Kotwal, Zahid Nasim Manhas, Dr. Koshal Kumar Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Showkat Ahmed Dar, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Bakar Hussain Samoon, Firdous Iqbal, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Ranjit Singh Samyal, Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, Rajinder Gupta, Rajesh Sharma,Sanjeev Khajuria, Rajesh Bali, Zubair Ahmed Khan, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, Mumtaz Ahmed and Mohd Aslam for the induction into IPS cadre.

Panel also cleared two retired police officers Anil Magotra and Parshotam Kumar Sharma for promotion in IPS.

Two posts have been reserved for RK Bhat and Manohar Singh,but will drowned on
getting clean chit in inquiries.

Sources said that MHA will take final calm on batches and whereas the Officers will get AGMUT cadre , and after mandatory training program can be posted outside J&K, atleast few of them.

*Dumper Vehicle Falls Into Gorge In Mendhar Poonch, Driver Dies*

Poonch, July 22 : Driver of a dumper vehicle died after the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Mendhar Poonch, officials said on Saturday.

They said that the dumper vehicle (JK12B-7126) met with the accident at Naka Village area of Mendhar. Soon a rescue operation was launched by local volunteers and police. However, the driver Yaqoob Azam (52) son of Mohammad Hussain of Bhata Dhrian died on spot.

A police official confirmed the death of the driver to and said that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.

*Under the operation "Drugs free kulgam"; kulgam police arrested a drug peddler and recovered Poppy Straw like contraband substance from his possession*

District Police Kulgam is making every effort to hunt down the drug peddlers in the district and to put them behind the bars.

In this regard, yesterday at about *1600 hours* police party headed by SHO Police station *Behibagh* established a checkpoint (Naka) at *Alamgunj crossing* and during checking one suspected person whose identity has been ascertained as; *Arshid Ahmad Bhat S/O Abdul Gani Bhat R/O Machewa* carrying a nylon bag on his shoulder was signalled to stop, who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot. However, alert police party chased and apprehended him tactfully. After checking officers present were able to recover *11 Kg of Poppy Straw* like contraband substance filled in the said bag carried by him.

Regarding this incident, a Case *FIR No. 48/2023 U/S 8/15* of NDPS Act stands registered in *Police Station Behibagh* and investigation has been set into motion.

General public is requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police Kulgam in eradicating the drug menace from the society as Drugs are consuming the precious lives and career of our young generation.

Pattan Police Claim Highest Arrest of Drug Peddlers This Year So Far.

Baramulla 06 June (CNS): Police Sub Division Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a highest number of drug peddlers from different areas of Pattan area under NDPS Act in this year so far.

According to new agency CNS, the police official stated that since January 2023, a highest number of drug peddlers have been arrested in Sub division Pattan. They said that from the arrested drug peddlers mostly charas, codeine and other banned drugs were recovered.

In another case, police said that under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz-JKPS assisted by Inspector Sarjan Ahmad, SHO Police Station Pattan arrested notorious drug smuggler namely Bilal Ahmad Shah, a resident of Kalsari Pattan during naka checking at Nehalpora Cheksari Pattan who was coming from Checksari towards Pattan.

“After spotting the naka party, he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During his personal search 70 grams of contraband Cannabis Powder & 5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substances was recovered from him and was taken into custody immediately,” said police.

Cases under NDPS Act have been registered in Police Station Sheeri & Pattan, with investigations set in motion, they said. (CNS)

Resource Person Mr. Muneer Ahmad Bhat (Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Kulgam) deliberated upon various aspects of topic. Meeting was attended by Additional District & Sessions Judge Kulgam, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Kulgam and all the SHOs and Chowki Officers of District Kulgam.Meeting was conducted by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kulgam (Mrs. Tabassum Qadir Parray). Chief Guest of this Meeting Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bhat (Hon’ble Principal District and sessions Judge Kulgam). Lastly SHOs and Chowki Officer of the above mentioned SHOs and Chowki Officers take pledge for Pre-arrest /arrest and remand and Sections like 41,43,45,50 Etc and at the end vote of thanks was presented by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kulgam.

Anantnag , 06-June;an awareness cm education programme under the aegis of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and Good pharmacy practices was organised by Drug Control authorities Anantnag in collaborationwith Chemists and Druggists Association Kokernag Anantnag,in which chemists of the area were sensitized regarding the basic principles , guide lines,SOPs of Good pharmacy practices by Drug Control Officers of Anantnag and Kulgam Districts.
Chemists in general were also educated regarding the warning signs and red-flag indicators of substance and Drug Abuse and their ill effects. Later on chemists pledged an oath regarding the responsibilities and duties of a Good pharmacist. Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Deputy Drug controller kashmir Division emphased upon the chemists to work with zeal and enthusis for the betterment of patient care .Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag mandated the chemists to keep proper vigil on every suspicious addiction related activity and bring same in the knowledge of law enforcement agencies.Deputy Drug Controller kashmir Division Mtr Nighat jabeen also instructed the chemists to share responsibilities of one and all to contribute in eradication of drug and substance abuse. They were further directed to dispense the pharmaceutical preparations with addiction liability inconsonance with the duly signed and marked prescriptions of the medical Practitioners.

Police Arrest School Principal in Molestation Case in Srinagar

Srinagar 06 June (CNS): Principal of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Gund Hassi Bhat was arrested by Police in a molestation case, said Srinagar Police on Tuesday morning.
As per the news agency CNS, the police identified the accused as Shabir Ahmad Mir, a resident of Zadibal Srinagar. He was rendering service as a Principal at Govt. Higher Secondary School Gund Hassi. The accused Principal was arrested in a molestation case under sections of 354D, 294 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR no. 31/2023 at Police Station Shalteng under above-mentioned sections.
“Shabir Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Rasool Mir R/o Zadibal, Srinagar working as Principal of Govt HSS Gund Hassi Bhat arrested in molestation case. FIR no 31/2023 u/s 354D, 294 and 506 of IPC registered at Shalteng PS,” tweeted Srinagar Police. (CNS)

Missing minor child from Bangladesh rescued in the trafficking case by ICPS Kulgam.

Kulgam, 4 June;

The Child Protection Officer, Institutional care District kulgam received a call from police post Mirbazar
regarding trafficking of children case.
Upon receiving the call the Child Protection Officer along with outreach reach worker reached the spot and received one child of age 13 years (Name with held) resident of Bangladesh who was trafficked from Bangladesh to Kashmir month before and was left at Awantipora Pulwama.
The Incharge police post informed CPO, ICPS kulgam for immediate necessary action in the matter.
Accordingly, the child was received by team ICPS kulgam and was kept in Bait ul Hilal chawalgam, Kulgam till the time his family was traced under proper procedure.
The whole exercise took place under the proper supervision of District Child Protection Officer Kulgam, Snobar Altaf, DCPO Kulgam. The DCPO kulgam thanked SHO Mirbazar for timely action in the matter and requested general public to inform DCPO, ICPS, Kulgam regarding children in need of care and protection on following numbers 7889354824-9622296000-7006571377

*Rajouri encounter:- Militant killed, ops on*

Srinagar,Jun 02 :-A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces in Dassal forest area of Rajouri district on Friday.

Reliable sources told that a joint team of Police, army’ and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

During exchange of fire, one militant has been killed while operation is going on,they said.
