Haji Waris Ali (1817-1905) stands as a radiant figure in the spiritual history of the Indian subcontinent. Revered as the founder of the Warsia Sufi Order, his presence was like a divine lamp that illuminated the hearts of countless seekers. Through his life and teachings, he communicated a timeless message of divine love, universal tolerance and the indivisible oneness of all beings.
Born in the serene town of Dewa, in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district, Haji Waris Ali entered the world already enveloped in spiritual solitude, his father passed away before his birth and he lost his mother in early childhood. Orphaned in the material sense, he was rich in the treasures of inner purity, spiritual longing and divine proximity.
Under the guardianship of his spiritual guide and brother-in-law Hazrat Khadim Ali, he embarked upon the path of divine realization. Even after his Murshid's passing, while still in his teens, Haji Sahib continued to dive into the ocean of mysticism with unwavering determination. His life became a testament to surrender, service and silence.
A tireless traveler, he journeyed across lands, transcending physical and cultural borders, meeting sages, scholars, emperors and commoners alike. His message of mohabbat was universal. His doors were open to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, the rich, the poor-any soul thirsty for truth.
While presenting the ihram to his disciples, he would solemnly declare: "This is your kafan (shroud). Just as a dead one is cut off from the world, the seeker too must shed worldly attachments to walk this path."
On the sacred occasion of his Urs, honors Haji Waris Ali by sharing his timeless wisdom and a light that continues to dispel the darkness of separation and ego across generations.
