Over 300 Monkeys Captured in Special Operation, Released into Dense Forest Areas
Kalaburagi, Aug. 21 – Due to the increasing menace of monkeys in several villages across different taluks of Kalaburagi district, which has been causing serious trouble to the public, the Forest Department launched a special operation. Under the leadership of forest staff and with the help of an expert team using Monkey Trap Cages, special drives were carried out at around 5–6 different locations. In this operation, more than 300 monkeys were safely captured from village areas and released into dense forest zones, informed the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Kalaburagi Division.
As per the directions of the District In-charge Minister, the Forest Department along with the local administration has already conducted such operations in Chittapur, Shahabad, Kalagi, Aland, Afzalpur, Chincholi, Jewargi, and Kalaburagi taluks. Monkeys troubling the villagers were captured and relocated to forest areas for safety.
Currently, in Dandoti village of Chittapur taluk, incidents of sudden monkey attacks on the public have been reported. In response, a joint team of forest staff and monkey-catching experts have been stationed there for the past 5–6 days. With the help of villagers and the local Gram Panchayat, efforts are underway to capture the monkeys responsible for the attacks. Forest officials, along with Taluk Medical Officers, also visited the injured victims at the Taluk Hospital to ensure they receive proper medical care.
The Deputy Conservator of Forests appealed to the public to follow these precautionary measures to prevent monkey attacks:
Do not feed monkeys near schools, temples, or public places.
Avoid throwing food waste in front of houses or shops.
Dispose of garbage only in designated places.
Inform the nearest forest officials immediately if monkey menace is noticed.
He further added that monkey menace has been rising in villages recently, and by following these guidelines, the public can help prevent attacks and allow monkeys to live peacefully in their natural habitat.
