Prescientia Celebrates 5th Anniversary with a Golden Saraswati Idol
The News Stat, Hailakandi, 11th February 2024: Like many other educational institutions, Prescientia Senior Secondary School in Hailakandi celebrated Saraswati Puja on 3rd February, Monday. However, this year’s celebration was special as the school marked its 5th anniversary. Breaking away from tradition, the idol of Goddess Saraswati was adorned in golden colour, symbolising both the eternal motherly presence and royal grandeur. The beautifully crafted idol mesmerised devotees and visitors alike. As per traditional rituals, the Puja and Havan were performed on the auspicious morning of Basant Panchami. Students offered flowers at the feet of the goddess, creating a truly divine atmosphere. The school campus was decorated with intricate Alpona (traditional designs) made by both former and current students. An Art exhibition was also organised, where paintings created by students were displayed and widely appreciated by visitors. The celebration was filled with joy, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, parents, and school authorities. Along with grand decorations, the hospitality extended by teachers and students impressed everyone. True education teaches humility, and this was evident in their warm welcome. Mahaprasad distribution started at 1 PM and continued until 5 PM, with around 800 devotees receiving the sacred offering. School Principal Dr. Parijat Debroy, Vice Principal Chinmoy Dutta, and Managing Director Dr. Abhijit Mitra expressed their happiness at the successful event.
The evening saw a stunning Lighting display from Tool Road to the main entrance of Prescientia, adding to the festive mood. A Cultural program followed, beginning with the sacred sounds of Conch shells and ululation, along with the chanting of Saraswati Vandana. Both former and current students, along with teachers, participated in the musical evening. The event began with a Bhairavi Raga composition dedicated to the goddess, setting a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Class 11 student Susmita Nath captivated the audience with a soulful solo song, accompanied on Tabla by former student Rajjyoti Choudhury. On popular request, senior teacher Prasenjit Choudhury took the stage with three Rabindra Sangeet renditions, starting with "Madhur Madhur Dhwani Baje...". Vice Principal Chinmoy Dutta accompanied him on the tabla. The audience, immersed in the Rabindranath-inspired melodies, spontaneously joined in singing "Aguner Parashmoni Chhuyau Prane".
Renowned guest singer Supriya Chakraborty delivered a mesmerizing performance. School teacher Jewel Das then enthralled the audience with her beautiful presentation, including Saraswati Vandana and Kazi Nazrul Islam's song "Na Mitite Sadh Mor Nishi Pohay". Former student Deepjyoti Nath also performed a solo song, with tabla support from another ex-student, Pranjal Bhattacharya. The musical evening reached its peak when Rajjyoti and Pranjal engaged the audience with a breathtaking Tabla jugalbandi. A special moment of the evening was the performance by young talent Pratham Chakraborty, who sang two Kirtan songs. The audience joined in chorus, creating a divine ambiance. He was accompanied on Tabla by Managing Director Dr. Abhijit Mitra, who also delivered a brief speech, thanking everyone for their support in Priscientia's five-year journey.
The entire event was smoothly hosted by former student Rupsha Deb, whose eloquent presentation was widely appreciated. The grand evening of music and devotion concluded at 10:30 PM, leaving everyone with hearts full of joy and devotion.
