*DIG UDHAMPUR–REASI RANGE REVIEWS SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS AT KATRA AHEAD OF NEW YEAR*
*Reasi, 30 December 2025:* *Ms. Sarah Rizvi, IPS, DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range*, today visited Katra to review the security and traffic management arrangements ahead of 31st December and New Year celebrations, in view of the anticipated heavy rush of pilgrims from all parts of India and foreign countries.
*The DIG* was accompanied by *SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh, JKPS; Addl. SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran, JKPS; SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS; Dy.SP Traffic; and SHO Police Station Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao*
During the visit, *Ms. Sarah Rizvi* reviewed all naka/checking points in and around Katra and interacted with police patrolling parties deployed on the ground. She emphasized strict checking, enhanced vigilance and maintaining a pilgrim-friendly approach to ensure safety and smooth movement during the peak rush period.
*The DIG* also visited the *Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Katra,* where she reviewed the functioning of the centre and the live surveillance system. It was informed that 564 CCTV cameras are actively providing live feed coverage of *Katra town, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track and other sensitive locations.* Necessary directions were issued for the effective utilisation of ICCC for real-time monitoring, quick response, and efficient crowd and traffic management.
*Ms. Sarah Rizvi* further took stock of the minutes and directions issued during the earlier meeting chaired by *the Director General of Police at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra,* with particular focus on strengthening security arrangements for the safety of pilgrims.
As part of her on-ground assessment, *the DIG* conducted a foot patrol at key locations including *Ticket Counter No. 2, Bus Stand Katra, Varun Chowk, Fountain Chowk, and Asia Chowk,* where she reviewed the traffic scenario and crowd movement. She also interacted with pilgrims arriving from different parts of the country for the darshan of *Shri Mata Vaishno Devi* and enquired about the arrangements in place.
*The DIG* also met the CRPF personnel deployed at various naka points and appreciated their dedication and role in maintaining security and assisting pilgrims.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of police and security forces to ensure robust security, effective crowd control and seamless management during the New Year period.
