All India Bank Strike: UFBU Calls for 48-Hour Nationwide Protest from March 23 Midnight
️⃣ Strike Announcement: United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), representing over 8 lakh bank employees, has called for a 48-hour nationwide strike from midnight of March 23 to midnight of March 25, 2025.
️⃣ Key Demands: The strike demands include adequate recruitment, implementation of a five-day workweek, withdrawal of government directives on performance review and PLI, protection of staff from assaults, and amendments to the Gratuity Act.
️⃣ Staffing Crisis in Banks: Public Sector Banks have faced a significant decline in staff over the past decade, leading to increased workload and reduced customer service efficiency.
️⃣ Five-Day Workweek Delay: Despite recommendations from Indian banks, the government has yet to approve a five-day workweek, unlike RBI, insurance companies, and private sector firms.
️⃣ Additional Concerns: Other demands include stopping unfair labor practices, preventing the outsourcing of permanent jobs, and maintaining a minimum of 51% government equity in IDBI Bank.
️⃣ Public Appeal: UFBU urges public support, emphasizing that the strike is necessary due to the government’s inaction on key banking sector issues.
