Hey Sinamika (2022)
is a vibrant Tamil romantic comedy-drama written by Madhan Karky and marking the directorial debut of veteran choreographer Brinda. The film explores the complexities of modern marriage, the suffocating nature of over-possessiveness, and the journey of rediscovering love through separation, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The story revolves around Yaazhan (Dulquer Salmaan), a fiercely loving, stay-at-home husband who is an absolute chatterbox, and Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari), a brilliant
paleotempestologist. While their marriage begins with intense romance, Yaazhan’s hyper-attentive nature, constant talking, and excessive pampering eventually begin to suffocate Mouna.
Desperate for some personal space and a temporary break from his overwhelming affection, Mouna accepts a project in Pondicherry, but to her dismay, Yaazhan packs his bags and follows her there, refusing to leave her side. Frustrated, Mouna hatches a bizarre plan to make Yaazhan fall out of love with her by hiring Dr. Malarvizhi (Kajal Aggarwal), a beautiful relationship counselor, to seduce Yaazhan so she can use the infidelity as an excuse for a divorce. The plan takes an unexpected turn when Malarvizhi, charmed by Yaazhan’s genuine kindness, innocence, and golden heart, actually begins to fall in love with him while helping him land a job as a radio jockey, where his talkative nature turns him into an overnight sensation. As Yaazhan grows closer to Malarvizhi, a jealous Mouna
realizes the gravity of her mistake and the true value of her husband’s unconditional love.
Boasting a lively, colorful aesthetic and a beautiful soundtrack composed by Govind Vasantha, Hey Sinamika transitions into an emotional drama about maturity and forgiveness, culminating in a heartfelt single-paragraph narrative where the couple successfully learns to balance personal space with true marital devotion.
