Udhampur Police Remembers Martyrs on Independence Day

On the occasion of Independence Day, District Police Udhampur paid tribute to the police martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. To ensure the well-being of their families, District Police Udhampur deputed territorial police officers to visit their family members, listen to their grievances, and facilitate their proper redressal.

Visiting officers assured the families of all possible assistance whenever required. They were also informed about various welfare schemes of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and presented with a humble token of remembrance on this solemn occasion.

बिल्ला राम पुत्र हेम राज निवासी बाबा साईं नाथ मंदिर, तालाब तिल्लो, जम्मू ने कटरा में पर्ची काउंटर नंबर 1 के पास अपना गला रेतकर आत्महत्या करने की कोशिश की। पुलिस द्वारा उसे तुरंत CHC Katra लाया गया और प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद उसे आगे के इलाज के लिए GMC Jammu रेफर कर दिया गया।

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶, 𝟭𝟱 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: Continuing its drive against illegal activities, District Police Reasi achieved two significant successes today under the jurisdiction of Police Station Katra.

In the first incident, during naka checking at Sool Kakryal, a Police team intercepted an Auto Load Carrier bearing temporary registration No. JK20B-1813. On checking, the driver was identified as Surinder Kumar S/O Mohan Lal R/O Chintamani, Katra, Reasi. Further inspection of the vehicle led to the recovery of 38 quarter bottles (250 ml each) of JK Special Whiskey from his conscious possession. The accused was found transporting the illicit liquor in violation of the provisions of the Excise Act.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 234/2025 U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at P/S Katra and investigation initiated.

In another incident, at P*P Serli, a Police naka party apprehended Kasturi Lal S/O Madan Lal R/O Matyal and Suresh Kumar S/O Sansar Chand R/O Matyal and recovered heroin-like substance weighing approximately 5.5 grams from their possession. The seizure was made in violation of the NDPS Act. Cognizance has been taken and a case FIR No. 236/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Katra for further investigation.

District Police Reasi remains committed to maintaining law and order and urges the public to cooperate by sharing information about any illegal activities in their areas.

*SSP Udhampur reviews Security Arrangements for Kailash Kund Yatra*

SSP Udhampur Sh. Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS today chaired a meeting to review the security and other arrangements for the upcoming Kailash Kund Yatra in the Udhampur-Doda hills. The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Udhampur, DySP DAR DPL Udhampur, DySP Telcom , DSP Basantgarh, DSP Latti and other senior police officers of the district Police Udhampur.

SSP Udhampur emphasized on meticulous planning, strong deployment of forces, and close coordination among all agencies to ensure the safety of pilgrims. He directed for additional checkpoints, intensified patrolling and adequate manpower at key points along the route.

Arrangements for medical aid, communication facilities, traffic regulation, and public order were also reviewed. Provisions for dry rations and winter clothing for deployed personnel, medical teams, and involvement of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) were discussed to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage.
