DCA Inspects 166 Medical Shops Linked to Online Pharmacies; Show Cause Notices Issued to 41 Shops

The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, conducted a Special Enforcement Drive across the State on June 6, 2026, targeting medical shops associated with online pharmacies to verify compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Rules made thereunder.

During the statewide inspections, officials inspected a total of 166 medical shops. These included 159 shops linked to online medicine delivery services, comprising licensed premises of online pharmacy operators and their network partner pharmacies, as well as 7 shops associated with online B2B platforms.

The inspections revealed several regulatory violations, including non-maintenance and failure to produce sales bills of medicines, failure to maintain prescription drug registers and Schedule H1 drug registers, non-production of purchase invoices, dispensing prescription medicines without valid prescriptions issued by Registered Medical Practitioners, sale of medicines without the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, and improper maintenance of sales and purchase records.

Based on the violations detected, the DCA issued Show Cause Notices to 41 medical shops across the State. Further action will be initiated against the violators in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Rules framed thereunder.

The Drugs Control Administration reiterated that strict adherence to statutory requirements is mandatory for all medical shops, including those associated with online pharmacy platforms. Any deviation from the prescribed norms will invite stringent action under the law.

The DCA stated that such enforcement drives will continue across Telangana to safeguard public health, ensure responsible dispensing of medicines, and promote compliance within the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Hyderabad Traffic Police informs citizens that, in connection with the annual Fish Prasadam distribution at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, traffic diversions will be in force from 06:00 AM on 08 June 2026 to 08:00 PM on 09 June 2026.

Moderate traffic congestion is expected in and around the Exhibition Grounds. To facilitate smooth traffic movement and ensure public safety, diversions, parking arrangements, and designated alighting points will be implemented based on local traffic conditions.

Key arrangements include:
• Separate parking facilities for 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers, VIP vehicles, buses, and government vehicles.
• Designated drop-off points for buses, vans, and auto-rickshaws.
• Diversions for general traffic, private travels, and heavy vehicles around MJ Market, Nampally, Begum Bazar, and adjoining junctions.
• Special access through Gate No. 3 for Fisheries Department vehicles, HMWS water tankers, and authorized voluntary organizations carrying food materials.
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes, and follow updates issued by Hyderabad Traffic Police through its official social media platforms.

Hyderabad City Police, on Thursday night, have inspected the vehicles under the name of 'Operation Kavach'.

Among these, we identified 1,406 vehicles with incorrect number plates, 1,132 vehicles without original number plates, and 69 vehicles with fake number plates. Police seized a total of 2,149 vehicles (2,046 two-wheelers, 52 four-wheelers, 51 autos) that violated the rules.

Number plate tampering, duplicate or original number plates is considered just a normal traffic violation

The recovery pertains to theft cases registered in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

The accused, Vishwakarma Mohan Kumar @ Undekode Mohan (32), a native of Narayanpet, Telangana, was found to be involved in multiple motorcycle thefts. During investigation, four premium motorcycles, including three Royal Enfield motorcycles and one Pulsar motorcycle, were recovered and seized.
