*Addl. DC Sopore visits Pazalpora to address Public Grievances; assures Road and Irrigation Restoration*

Pazalpora, July 29:
In a proactive initiative to address public concerns, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, accompanied by engineers from Block Dangiwacha, visited Village Pazalpora to assess the issues surrounding approach road connectivity and other local grievances.

During the visit, the ADC engaged in an open dialogue with residents to understand their concerns firsthand. However, tensions escalated among sections of the community, with some individuals on the verge of taking extreme steps that could have disrupted public order. Demonstrating calm leadership and presence of mind, the ADC intervened to pacify the situation, appealing for peace and mutual cooperation.

The ADC assured residents that the left over encroached land hindering road access would be vacated within two days, facilitating the construction of the much-needed approach road to the village. He also directed engineers from the Rural Development Department (RDD) to initiate immediate work on restoration of dry koul which is critical for local agriculture.

Emphasizing the sanctity of public property, the ADC instructed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to ensure community assets remain accessible to all and are not misused by individuals. He reiterated that encroachments on public land would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The ADC further assured the local populace that both the irrigation khul and the approach road would be restored in a time-bound manner. Encouraging community engagement, he invited residents to approach his office freely with their grievances, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to transparent, responsive, and people-centric governance.

*GoC-in-C Northern Command briefs Lieutenant Governor on Operation Mahadev*

Srinagar, July 29 : Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command today called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and briefed him on Operation Mahadev. He was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Prashant Srivastava, General Officer Commanding (GOC)15 Corps.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police for the successful Operation Mahadev. This crucial operation, executed in the challenging Dachigam forest, resulted in the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the heinous Pahalgam terror attack.

GOC-in-C Northern Command informed that search operations had been ongoing in South Kashmir to Dachigam forest areas for the past few months. There were persistent reports about terrorists hiding in this area. Recently, based on specific intelligence inputs, special teams were activated. A joint operation was then launched by the Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force, with the significant assistance of intelligence agencies, leading to the elimination of Pakistani terrorists.(GNS)

On the solemn yet proud occasion of 28th July 2025, the entire nation witnessed the spirit of justice and national resilience during Operation Mahadev, executed with precision and valor by our Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police. The encounter at Dachigam has successfully neutralized the terrorists responsible for the barbaric massacre of 25 innocent civilians in Pahalgam on 22nd April 2025 — a brutal act orchestrated and sponsored by Pakistan.

As a Human Rights Defender and Chairperson of ATVK, I stand in solidarity with the 25 bereaved families who have long awaited justice. Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks from the Dangiwacha and Rohama zones have recently staged protests at Watergam Rafiabad, demanding an increase in their wages and the immediate release of their long-pending salaries.
These MDM workers, mostly women, highlighted that despite their essential role in providing nutrition to children in government schools, they have faced months without payment. Many have demanded immediate government intervention for a wage hike as well as regular, timely disbursal of their honorariums. The protestors argue that the delay in payments has caused significant financial hardship for their families, with some reports stating pending dues stretch over several months. In addition to seeking higher wages, the cooks have called for job security and official recognition of their contributions, stressing that their work is crucial for the success of the mid-day meal scheme in rural and underprivileged communities.

Lawyers in Sopore Observe Pen-Down Strike, Demand Implementation of Protection Act

Sopore, July 29: Lawyers in Sopore observed a one-day pen-down strike today, voicing serious concerns over the increasing attacks on legal professionals across the country. The protesting lawyers stated that such incidents pose a grave threat to their lives and called for urgent measures to ensure their safety.

They highlighted that although a bill aimed at protecting lawyers was introduced in Parliament in 2021, it has yet to be enacted into law. The delay, they said, amounts to an injustice to the legal fraternity.

The lawyers urged the government to implement the Lawyers’ Protection Act without further delay, emphasizing that proper legal safeguards are essential for them to perform their professional duties without fear or intimidation.

☑️ *Terrorism and talks can't happen together with Pakistan: Rajnath Singh*

🔘👉🏻 New Delhi,July 28 (KNO): Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that terrorism and talks cannot happen together and that India will act again if Pakistan repeats any "misadventure".

Initiating discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Rajanth Singh, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the operation was based on a detailed assessment and aimed only at terror camps, with no civilian areas targeted.

He said India had made several efforts to build peaceful ties with Pakistan, but these were repeatedly met with violence. "Whenever India extended a hand of friendship, the response was war," he said.

He added reports about the operation being paused under external pressure are incorrect. "This is completely wrong. In my political life, I have tried not to speak untruths," he said.

Singh further said India's defence systems prevented damage to any key assets. "Our aim was not to occupy territory or start a full-scale war. It was only to locate and destroy terror camps. If there is any misadventure, the operation will resume," he said—(KNO)

Terrorist Associate Apprehended with Cache of Arms, Ammo in North Kashmir

In a major success against anti-national activities, security forces today apprehended a terrorist associate during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Marsary, Chowkibal, Kralpora.

The operation was jointly launched by 05 PARA, 160 Territorial Army, 98 Bn CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) Kralpora, and Police Station Kralpora based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist associate in the area.

During the operation, one individual identified as Wali Mohd Mir S/o Mohd Sadiq Mir R/o Marsary was apprehended. Upon search, a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession, which includes:
• 01 AK-56 rifle
• 03 AK-56 magazines
• 1150 rounds of AK-56 ammunition
• 17 UBGL grenades

Preliminary investigations reveal that the apprehended individual was working as a terrorist Associate for proscribed terrorist outfits and was involved in facilitating the movement of arms and ammunition to active terrorists in the region.

Accordingly, FIR No. 53/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora, and further investigation is underway.
