Over the past few years, there have been numerous reports of thieves stealing not only packed apple crates from orchards and sheds but also valuable high-density apple trees and saplings. The repeated thefts have triggered fear and frustration among fruit growers, many of whom have invested heavily in their orchards, often by taking out bank loans.
