The meeting began with a welcome address by Shri Yukar Tama, Secretary of the Raga Baazar Committee. Shri Kabak Jirjo, Chairman of the Committee, outlined the objectives of the meeting and emphasized the need for collective efforts to maintain cleanliness and social discipline in Raga town.
Key issues discussed included improving cleanliness to make Raga a “Clean & Green” town; controlling stray animals such as goats, cows, dogs, and pigs that create unhygienic conditions and damage horticultural plants; preventing gambling activities; and imposing strict measures against drug peddlers and addicts.
Representatives from the Police Department, Urban Development Department, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), Health Department, PRI leaders, GBs, and Self-Help Groups actively participated in the discussion and shared their suggestions.
After detailed deliberations, the meeting resolved to constitute a “Clean & Green Raga Team,” headed by the Town Magistrate, Raga, with the ZPM as Vice Chairman and the Chairman/Secretary of the Raga Baazar Committee as Member Secretary. Members will include representatives from Police (SP), Urban Development (EE), Education (DDSE), Health (DMO), PHED & Water Supply (EE), ArSRLM, NES Raga Block Unit, and Colony Chairmen/Secretaries.
The Committee also decided to draft bye-laws for the proper regulation and functioning of the Baazar Committee/Welfare Association. The draft will be prepared within one month after consultation with stakeholders and by referring to the bye-laws of the Ziro and Itanagar Baazar Committees. A mass meeting involving shopkeepers, the District Administration, and line departments will be organized thereafter to ensure better coordination and implementation.
The meeting was attended by the DRCHO-cum-Secretary, NES Kamle District; the Officer-in-Charge of Police Station Raga; JE, Urban Development, Raga; In-charge DM, ArSRLM; HGB Raga; representatives of PRI leaders and SHGs; along with members of the Raga Baazar Committee.
