Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park celebrates Christmas spirit with its annual Christmas Tree lighting event

Unveiling the Christmas Spirit, the ceremony started from 7PM onwards and was hosted at the Connexions Lounge at Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park, and in attendance were the Long staying resident guests of the hotel, and Chennai’s socialites and influencers. Upon arrival, Consulates and other guests were greeted with mulled wine, while all the children were served delicious cups of hot chocolate. The event saw a spirited Carol Singing performance, during which the Christmas tree was lit by the Thai consulate Mr. Nitirooge Phoneprasert. Soon thereafter, Santa Claus entered with goodie bags and chocolates and cookies for the kids.

In keeping with its tradition of always coming up with innovative & creative Christmas Trees, this year too the team at Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park unveiled the RRR ChristmasTree. This unique tree encompasses all the virtues of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle – The primary ingredient utilised for constructing this tree is dried sugarcane waste. This is something that has never been attempted before and true symbol of how waste material can be reused & upcycled to create beautiful objects of art. Our team of engineers scouted the city of Chennai and collected over 200kg of sugarcane waste from sugarcane juice vendors. They sun-dried the material and painted it after treating it to make this wonderful tree. Instead of disposing them off, the team collected fused bulbs in the hotel and once again re-cycled & upcycled them to make fashionable Santa’s that are used to decorate the tree as ornaments & decorations. The team at the hotel reduced & minimised the purchase, production and wastage of new / raw material by reusing & recycling waste material to create this truly unique and first of its kind RRR Christmas Tree made of sugarcane. This initiative symbolises our commitment towards protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. We are confident that it would encourage our team members & guests alike to continue such initiatives.

INDIAN RACING LEAGUE DEBUT SEASON 2022

Indian Racing League debut season was held from 19th November - 11th December 2022. The series - which aims to establish itself as India's premier championship - is promoted by RPPL and run with the support of Italian car manufacturer Wolf Racing. The cars employed was Wolf GB08 Thunder Prototypes, also used in the Italian Sport Prototype Championship.

The 6 teams of IRL are Chennai Turbo Riders, Bangalore Speedsters, Goa Aces, Hyderabad Blackbirds, Speed Demons Delhi and Godspeed Kochi. The Chennai Turbo Riders team is owned by Accord Group & Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research.

The Chennai Turbo Riders includes the city’s very own driver Sandeep Kumar, a multiple times Indian National Racing Champion and International Racing Driver. The Chennai team also features renowned drivers like Parth Ghorpade, an Indian professional driver hailing from Maharashtra, 5 times winner of the national championship; Jon Lancaster, a veteran British driver and winner of European Le Mans Series amongst other championships; and female Formula racing driver Nicole Havrda, a young upcoming talent, who is a proven racer with multiple podium finishes.
