After the celebrations, our journey took us through Kasargod town, towards Uppala. Uppala is a small town between Kasargod and Mangalore. In Uppala, near Uppala Railway Station, my friend Noushad directed us to a small eatery - Irani Seekh Kabab, run by Abbascha.

These kebabs had a unique flavor profile not commonly found in Kerala – a must-try if you're traveling this route!

കുരുമുളക് മത്തി വടകരയിൽ കൂട്ടി ഉച്ചയൂണ്! On our road trip from Kochi to Kasargod, we stopped at Vatakara for lunch based on a friend’s (Arun's) recommendation — and it didn’t disappoint! At Prakash Cafe Vatakara, we indulged in an authentic Malabar-style seafood meal featuring a delicious variety of fish tawa fries, mussels fry, and the standout dishes: Kallummakkaya fry (mussels fry) and matthi kurumulakil vattichathu (pepper sardines).

Famous among locals for its authentic Kerala-style puttu and beef stew, this humble kiosk—with just 8 seats—is a must-visit for foodies and fans of traditional Kerala breakfast.
We dropped by to try their delicious combinations of puttu with beef stew, bread with botti curry, and more. While they usually serve a special dish of the day, we visited on a day without one—but the flavors more than made up for it! The beef stew was rich and comforting, perfectly paired with both puttu and bread.

We arrived a bit early to witness the magic of cooking at this legendary eatery. It was a nostalgic experience for me since I had visited this place almost 5–6 years ago with my friend Hashmi. A lot has changed since then – they’ve expanded their seating area and even secured a parking space, making the visit more comfortable. However, one thing remains unchanged – the taste of their amazing food!

From the variety of dishes we tried, three stood out the most:
🥘 Prawns P**l Curry – A creamy, flavorful delight that was perfectly balanced.
🥩 Beef Fry – Tender, well-spiced, and an absolute treat for meat lovers.
🥚 Meen M***a – Unique and packed with authentic Kerala flavors!

മുന്തിരിക്കള്ളിനും കാന്താരിക്കള്ളിനും കൂടെ പാൽക്കപ്പയും താറാവുമപ്പാസും കഴിച്ചത് മാന്തോപ്പിൽ ആണ്! Jomon from Pala took me and Abhilash to this amazing toddy shop located on the Thodupuzha - Pala road. Manthoppu Toddy Shop offers a great ambience and delicious traditional Kerala food. I absolutely loved their p**l kappa, kallu appam, and duck mappas, while Jomon couldn’t get enough of their chilli pork! 🍖🔥

🥟 Zain Umma introduced us to her signature dish – the flavorful Irachi Pathiri, a traditional Malabar delicacy.
📦 Shirin Ittha surprised us with her unique innovation – Sundari Petti, a crispy snack with a delicious contrast of flavors.

വെറും 5 വർഷംകൊണ്ട് ഇത്രയും വലിയ കാടും 15 ലക്ഷം രൂപയിൽ ഒതുക്കി നല്ല ഒരു വീടും!
