FM 90.4 IITK Community Radio This is a non-profit iitk community radio at 90.4 MHz which caters to the needs and interests of the community with the coverage area of around 10-15 km.

In recent times, Community Radio has emerged as one of the fastest growing mediums of social communication playing a pivotal role in connecting with the local communities. Community Radio is intended to give voice to the unheard voices of the community. The main purpose remains giving voices to the unheard voices and democratizing communication on a community scale.Community radio, although taking

on diverse forms depending on its surroundings, remains a type of radio made to serve people; radio that encourages expression and participation and that values local culture. IIT Kanpur has become the first amongst all the IITs to own a community radio service of its own. Realizing the potential of Community Radio in establishing links with the remote villages and communities, IIT Kanpur launched its own radio at 90.4 MHz on 28th March 2010.The radio caters to the needs and interests of the community within and outside the campus with the coverage area of around 10-15 km. A whole gamut of programs is aired at 90.4 MHz ranging from education, health, environment, agriculture, social welfare to classical music. Till date several campus students and faculty community have recorded their voices with us. Also, many people from neighbouring villages have come forward and effectively used this medium of communication. Student involvement, Promotion of Radio, Production of shows, introduction of new shows, Conduction of workshops and competitions like RJ hunt, Cultivation of Radio Jockeying culture etc. are taken care of by IITK FM Radio Cell.
