Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone-VI, Guwahati, undertook a two-day maiden visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Upper Siang from August 12-13, 2025. The visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening the outreach and extension services in this remote tribal district of Arunachal Pradesh.
As part of the visit, Dr. Rajesh Kumar inaugurated a newly established Poultry Demonstration Unit at the KVK campus, aimed at promoting backyard poultry as a sustainable livelihood option for rural and tribal households. The unit will serve as a hands-on learning platform for farmers, SHGs and rural youth with a focus on dual-purpose improved poultry breeds suited for local agro-climatic conditions.
One of the highlights of the visit was the distribution of high-quality vegetable seed kit (PUSA BEEJ) under the KVK, Upper Siang’s ICAR-IARI NEH Component. The initiative is aimed at enhancing nutritional security and income generation through improved vegetable cultivation in the region.
During his visit, Dr. Kumar interacted extensively with local farmers, women SHG members and frontline extension workers, taking note of their challenges, suggestions and achievements.
Dr. Kumar, in his address emphasized the identification and adoption of a village to be developed into a model village with a comprehensive approach involving integrated farming and active community participation. He also stressed on leveraging the Swachhta fund for the creation of permanent structure to support cleanliness, hygiene and resource efficient facilities within the village. Importantly, Dr. Kumar also encouraged the formation of a Cooperative Society by the local farmers to enhance collective bargaining power, ensure better access to inputs and markets and facilitate efficient resource sharing.
Dr. Kumar lauded the KVK, Upper Siang team for their commendable efforts in empowering local farmers through innovative practices, delivering location specific technologies, conducting scientific training, skill development programme and promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices despite geographical constraints.
Dr. Oyinti Megu, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Upper Siang expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rajesh Kumar for taking the time to visit one of the remote KVK in the region. She acknowledges the significance of the visit, noting that it marked the first-ever visit by an ATARI representative to KVK, Upper Siang. She requested to take forward not only the good work being done by KVK but also communicate the challenges and constraints faced by KVK, Upper Siang in this difficult terrain to ICAR-ATARI and higher authorities. The visit concludes with a field tour to on-farm trial site, demonstration plots maintained by KVK and visit to farmer’s field at Jommoh, Geku and Integrated paddy cm fish farming system by Shri. Ziro Press Club celebrates first anniversary with focus on community and integrity

Ziro, August 13: The Ziro Press Club (ZPC), on Wednesday, celebrated its first foundation day, marking a significant milestone for the organization and its commitment to journalism in the region.

The event, held at the ZPC premises, brought together members and local dignitaries to reflect on the club's accomplishments and future goals.

Tai Arun, the Trade Development Officer (TDO) and DIPRO In-charge of Lower Subansiri District, attended as the special invitee.

Addressing the gathering, Arun praised the club's efforts and pledged to provide all possible assistance to ZPC in its mission to serve the community. He emphasized a collaborative approach, stating his commitment to working with the club to benefit society.

One of the day's key highlights was the announcement that ZPC has become the first district press club in Arunachal Pradesh to be affiliated with the Arunachal Press Club (APC).

The 2nd Edition of the Arunachal Test Championship began with a grand and joyful opening ceremony, where we had the honour of welcoming our Chief Guest Adv. Kasung Cheda ji, Guest of Honour Shri Dosh Dasi ji, and Special Guest Shri Kamey Yangfo ji. Their presence added grace to the occasion and reflected their true commitment to nurturing young talents through the legendary game of red-ball cricket.

We are deeply grateful to our guests for their heartfelt words, encouragement, and unwavering support towards the growth of cricket in our state. Our President, Shri Suraj Tayam, in his inspiring speech, spoke about the significance of Test cricket for our players and beautifully shared the journey of ICC (Itanagar Cricket Club) — a journey he lives every day with dedication for the betterment of cricket at the grassroots level.

The tournament was set in motion with the opening clash between NJCCA and CCC, which ended in a NJCCA get 3 point and CCC get 1 point due to bad weather as per the Inter Round Robin rule ,with NJCCA taking the first-innings lead. Caden CC, batting first, scored 121 in 34.2 overs, with Techi Doria’s fine 59 standing out. For NJCC, Myendung Singpho (3/38) and Rajesh Rebi (2/12) bowled brilliantly. NJCC responded strongly with 238 runs, led by Captain Teshi Tiku’s 46 and Tana James Tara’s explosive 44 off just 28 balls. Gollo Aga claimed 4/50, while Techi Doria added 3/57. In their second innings, CCC managed 81/3, with Licha Jhon unbeaten on 19, as NJCC’s bowlers kept things tight.

Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, today inaugurated the newly constructed Court Building of the Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court in a significant step towards strengthening the judicial infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Justice Gavai emphasised the importance of accessible and efficient justice delivery, particularly in remote and hilly states. He lauded the efforts of the judiciary and state government in ensuring better facilities for the legal fraternity and litigants.

The new court building is equipped with modern amenities aimed at enhancing judicial functioning and providing a more convenient environment for advocates, court staff, and the public. Senior judges, legal luminaries, government officials, and members of the Bar were present during the event.

The inauguration marks a milestone in the judiciary’s commitment to bringing justice closer to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
