Independent Candidate Budgam Muntazir Mouhidin remarked that the repeated political statements about statehood are nothing more than election-time slogans meant to mislead the people and gain sympathy votes. He said that the National Conference, PDP, and other regional parties have for years made emotional appeals to the people, yet have done nothing beyond rhetoric. “If they were truly serious about restoring statehood, they would have already formed a united platform and reached out collectively to the Central Government with a well-defined plan and purpose,” he said.
