TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K ISSUES TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR OCTOBER 8, 2025

NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway) Remains Partially Blocked Due to Landslides

Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur, after being blocked for 10 hours and 30 minutes due to shooting stones and mudslides at multiple spots. Traffic remains slow because of single-lane movement at Tharad, breakdown of five heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), and the movement of nomadic flocks.

Key Highlights of the Traffic Advisory:

Goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) carrying perishable items and livestock must follow the advisory due to narrow stretches and poor road conditions at Tharad, Nashri–Dalwas, Marog, and Kishtwari Pathar.

Only one-way traffic for LMVs from Srinagar towards Jammu will be allowed on NH-44 tomorrow.

Vehicles shall be permitted via NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) between 0700 to 1000 hrs.

No LMV will be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar.

LMVs from Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) between 0700–1000 hrs, provided they cross Nashri Tunnel before 1000 hrs.

Mughal Road is open for LMVs both ways.

HMVs from Qazigund area will move only after clearance of stranded vehicles and improvement in weather and road conditions.

Security Forces convoys are requested to follow the advisory strictly to avoid congestion.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road remains closed due to snow accumulation.

On Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road (SSG Road), LMVs followed by HMVs shall move from Minamarg to Srinagar between 0500–1000 hrs and from Sonamarg to Kargil between 1300–1730 hrs.

Sheikh Bashir, Tejinder Pal Slam BJP Over Statehood Delay and Unemployment Crisis in J&K

Jammu, October 6:
Senior NC leader Sheikh Bashir Ahmad accused the BJP of “deliberately disempowering democratic institutions” in J&K by withholding full statehood and denying an elected government the freedom to function. Addressing YNC workers at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu, he said bureaucracy was being prioritised over democracy and reiterated that statehood is the rightful demand of the people of J&K.

The event, presided over by Sheikh Bashir and organized by YNC Provincial President S. Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, witnessed several youth including Kartik Ghai and his team joining the National Conference.

Sheikh Bashir urged youth mobilisation and criticised the BJP for failing to deliver on promises of development post Article 370 abrogation, stating that Jammu has “lost jobs, contracts, and developmental opportunities.”

S. Tejinder Pal Singh Aman blamed the previous BJP-led government for rising unemployment, stressing that the Omar Abdullah-led government had introduced impactful employment and welfare schemes for youth, women, and senior citizens.

Expressing concern over the growing drug menace, Aman said unemployment and lack of awareness were fueling addiction. He announced that YNC would launch awareness and rehabilitation campaigns in collaboration with civil society and health departments.

GST Deduction a Bold Step, Only PM Modi Could Do It: Ghulam Ali Khatana

Kashmir Media Trust

Srinagar, Oct 6 — BJP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha Member Ghulam Ali Khatana hailed the recent GST reduction by the Union Government as a “game-changing decision” during a public outreach programme in Downtown Srinagar.

Khatana said only a leader of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stature could take such a bold step to ease financial burdens and boost small businesses. Interacting with traders, youth, and residents in Khanyar, Nowhatta, and adjoining areas, he highlighted the government’s focus on inclusive growth and economic empowerment.

He also inaugurated TRI Colour Constructions at Budgam, praising young entrepreneurs for embodying the spirit of Start-Up India. Later, he visited Spring Buds Educational Institute in Ompora and urged students to focus on skill development and innovation.

Khatana reiterated the BJP’s commitment to transforming Shahr-e-Khas into a hub of commerce and opportunity under the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

“Moolan Drout, Paattran Saag” — When Roots Are Burnt and Leaves Are Watered

They burnt the roots —
Moolan Drout tiy Pattiran Saag!
And now, with trembling hands, they pour water on the leaves,
hoping the tree will still look alive.

Once, there was a promise — a dream of return,
a faith that the soil we left behind would one day embrace us again.
But that hope was traded —
for moments of limelight,
for the comfort of headlines,
for coins that glimmered brighter than conscience.

Now, we see a mad rat race —
men blinded by short-sighted political ambition,
living for the news,
but dying in spirit.
Moneyed, yet empty —
they chase titles, not truth;
positions, not purpose.

The ones who could have healed our wounds
have instead used them as ladders.
Our pain became their platform,
our silence — their speech.
The community once united by loss
is now fragmented by ego.

And amidst it all,
those who once carried the torch of return
stand alone, betrayed and forgotten.
We are left to fight — each, in our own corner —
leaderless, yet still burning with memory.

Still, somewhere beneath the ashes,
the roots whisper…
that truth cannot be erased,
that hope will bloom again,
even when the leaves pretend to flourish.

Seven Tourist Spots Reopened for Visitors in Jammu & Kashmir

In a move set to boost tourism, the Jammu & Kashmir administration has reopened seven prominent tourist destinations that were earlier closed due to security restrictions. Officials said the decision comes after a review of the ground situation and is aimed at encouraging more visitors to explore the region’s natural beauty.

The reopening is expected to provide relief to the tourism sector, which has been witnessing a steady inflow of domestic and international travelers. Authorities have assured that all necessary safety and security arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

Tour operators and local stakeholders have welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will contribute to both economic revival and cultural exchange in the Valley.
