ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹੀ ਉਠਦੀਆਂ, ਘਰ ਸਾਫ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ, ਪਸੂ ਸਾਂਭ ਦੀਆ ਗੋਹਾ ਸਿੱਟ ਦੀਆ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਪਕਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਾ ਟੋਕਰਾ ਚੱਕ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੂਰ ਖੇਤ ਵੱਲ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ — ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣਾ , ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਥੱਕਨਾ ਉਹ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਧੁਰਾਂ ਸੀ।
ਖੇਤ 'ਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਕਤ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇਣੀ, ਪਾਣੀ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣਾ, ਹੋਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਪਰ ਮੂੰਹ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਗਿਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅੱਜ… ਨਵੀਆਂ ਵਿਆਹੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ — “ਸਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਦੁੱਖਦਾ, ਸਾਡਾ ਉਹ”…
ਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ — “ਚਲ ਪੁੱਤ ਮ ਰੋਟੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਣੀ ਆ ?”
ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਔਰਤ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੈ, ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਸਰਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਟਿਨ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ।
ਫਰਕ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬਦਲ ਗਈਆਂ, ਫਰਕ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਆਰਾਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਮਹਿਲਾ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਏ, ਪਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤੀ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ — ਹੁਣ ਜਿਮ ਜਾਂ ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।




ਅੱਜ ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਇਆ…ਰੇਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਉਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਮ...

ਅੱਜ ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਇਆ…
ਰੇਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਉਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਜਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ…
ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪਈ ਓਹੀ ਟਿਕਟ ਖਿੜਕੀ 'ਤੇ—ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਟਿਕਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਖੜੇ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦੇ।
