Kidwai Hosts “Cancer Survivor Run” A Marathon for Awareness and Hope

Bengaluru, June 6: A grand marathon titled ‘Cancer Survivor Run’ was held at Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium on Sunday to raise awareness about cancer and to celebrate and support those who have conquered the disease.

Organised by Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, the event drew staff members, representatives from various organisations, and members of the public who gathered at Kanteerava Stadium in the morning. The run passed through Kasturba Road, Cubbon Road, GPO, High Court, and UB City, among other landmarks. Catering to participants of all fitness levels, the event featured race categories of 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km. The health benefits of running drew enthusiastic crowds, with participants arriving in large groups. Since it was a holiday, thousands of students also joined the event. Winners of the race categories were felicitated with awards.

Flagging off the marathon, Dr. Sharanprakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, addressed the gathering and stated that screening camps are being organised across the state to bring cancer under control. He emphasised the need to build public awareness about cancer, and noted that marathons such as this play a vital role in promoting a healthy lifestyle. He announced that such large-scale awareness events will be held every year, adding that adopting good lifestyle habits is key to personal health and to building a healthier society.

Cancer survivors shared deeply inspiring accounts at the event, speaking openly with the public about their journeys — from diagnosis through treatment. They conveyed a strong message: there is no need to fear cancer — early treatment can lead to victory over it. Survivors were warmly felicitated at the event.

MLA Dr. HD Ranganath, Institute Director Dr. T. Naveen, Dr. K. Shobha, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Today, thousands gathered at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for a major protest demanding accountability over examination and recruitment controversies. The movement has gained tens of millions of followers online and is transitioning from memes and satire to organized activism.

Is it a real political party?

Not officially. The group describes itself as a satirical and political movement rather than a registered political party, although some supporters are pushing it toward a more formal political role.

Why is it controversial?

Supporters view it as a voice for frustrated young Indians. Critics and some political figures have questioned its motives, and legal challenges have been filed against the movement. There have also been disputes over social media account blocks and allegations of attempts to suppress its online presence.

In short, what began as a joke on social media has become one of the most talked-about youth-led protest movements in India in 2026

Zameer Ahmed Khan are tied to a widening political controversy within the Karnataka Congress. The unrest was triggered by a leaked, viral audio clip of a telephonic conversation between Zameer Ahmed Khan and another Congress leader. In the audio, they are allegedly heard discussing ways to sabotage the Congress party's chances in a critical local bypoll election. While Zameer Ahmed Khan has fiercely defended himself—calling the audio completely fake, fabricated using Artificial Intelligence, and a "political conspiracy" to ruin his career—the political fallout has been swift

Why is Donald Trump obsessed with Harley-Davidson and India?

For years, Trump has used the iconic American motorcycle brand as his go-to example of "unfair trade." He’s criticized India’s high import duties, famously labeling the nation a "tariff king."
The pushback has had real-world impacts: India recently rationalized several customs duties on high-end bikes and tech components to ease trade friction. Meanwhile, Harley adapted by partnering with India's Hero MotoCorp to build bikes locally. Is it a win for protectionism, or just the reality of doing business in a global market? 👇 Drop your thoughts below!
