Students participate actively in patriotic activities under HGT campaign in Ganderbal Schools

Ganderbal, Aug 08: As part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a series of patriotic activities were held today across various educational institutions in District Ganderbal, witnessing vibrant and enthusiastic participation.

All educational institutions across the district have been actively mobilized to foster widespread awareness and community engagement. The day was marked by a multitude of events, including flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes, awareness rallies, and painting competitions, drawing active involvement from students, teachers, and local community members.

Special emphasis was laid on sensitizing students about the significance of the National Flag and the provisions of the Flag Code of India. Sessions were held to educate students on the correct etiquette for hoisting and displaying the Tiranga, instilling a deep sense of patriotism and respect for national symbols.

Across educational schools in the district, students displayed handmade tricolour-themed artwork, while school premises were adorned with flags and banners, radiating patriotic fervour and national pride.

Srinagar, Aug 08: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Shri V.K. Birdi-IPS chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the overall security scenario and arrangements regarding the celebration of Independence Day and related events.

Crackdown on readymade mutton items continues, Food safety Ganderbal seals down restaurant in Beehama Chowk, huge quantity of rotten rista-kabab destroyed

Ganderbal, Aug 08: Continuing it's stringent action against the local restaurants and their suppliers, Food Safety Department officials team led by Food Safety Officer Ganderbal Sheikh Abbas conducted surprise checks in Safapora, Badampora and Beehama chowk Ganderbal from where huge quantity of long pending frozen rista-kabab and fried chicken, besides large buckets of minced mutton were recovered, seized and disposed off.

The action was taken after the inspection team raided Raj Palace restaurant in Beehama Chowk and found large freezers filled with ready made mutton varieties like Rista-Goshtab and Kabab.

Giving details the Food Safety Officer Sheikh Abbas said that the restaurant owner had stored huge quantity of Rista Kabab and other varieties in a large freezer kept in a room in the back side of the restaurant. The officer said that the restaurant workers tried hard to throw and hide some bags filled with Ristas and Kababs in the neighbour's courtyard but the Food Safety Officer foiled the attempt and seized all the bags, besides buckets full of minced mutton was also recovered, seized and later ensured its proper disposal.

The officer added that the place was sealed and the FBO was taken to task under the relevant sections of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.

He further said that earlier they also inspected various FBOs in Safapora and Badampora areas and similar action was taken against those using rotten or unhygienic food items.

The quantity of the overall unhygienic mutton items seized and destroyed was said to be around two quintal.

CRPF Trooper shoots self dead in Anantnag

Srinagar, Aug 08: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Trooper allegedly committed su***de by shooting himself dead with his service rifle in Dooru area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday morning.

An official said that the CRPF jawan (name withheld) who was posted for C /164 Battalion shot himself dead with his service rifle.

The motive behind his extreme step was not known immediately, the officials said, adding that police have started inquest proceedings in this connection.

Anantnag railway station opened for goods traffic movement

Anantnag, Aug 08: The Northern Railway has approved the opening of Anantnag (ANT) Railway Station in Jammu Division for handling both inward and outward goods traffic with immediate effect.

As per an official notification issued by the Dy. Chief Commercial Manager, as accessed by the media sources, the Anantnag station falls under the Baramulla–Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan (MCTM) section of the Jammu Division.

The notification reads, the station will handle all commodities, except POL (Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants), and will operate with half rake capacity for both inward and outward goods movement.

“The working hours for the goods shed have been fixed from 06:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The proxy location for Terminal Management System (TMS) is MCTM,” the notification reads.

It reads, all operating and commercial rules and formalities must be followed. It further reads that environmental and safety guidelines issued by concerned authorities be strictly adhered to.

JKBOSE reschedules July 30th postponed exams for Aug 17

Time and venue to remain unchanged

Srinagar, Aug 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued a revised date for the Class 12th Annual (Private)/Bi-Annual 2025 examinations that were postponed earlier due to bad weather conditions.

According to an official notification as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the postponed exams for Biology (Botany & Zoology), Statistics, Political Science, and Accountancy will now be held on August 17, 2025 (Sunday).

The board authorities confirmed that the time and venue for the said papers will remain the same as earlier notified, and no fresh admit cards will be required for entry.

The exams were originally scheduled on July 30, 2025, but had to be deferred due to incessant rainfall and unsafe travel conditions across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

“All concerned candidates are advised to treat this notice as final and ensure their presence on the revised date.”
