The Varmul Post

The Varmul Post Only Weekly Newspaper with a focus on North Kashmir; Printed and Published from Baramulla.

Born from a dream to discover and tell the truth, The Varmul Post has established itself as the only English language weekly news magazine focusing on North Kashmir. With a print circulation and reach across North Kashmir, The Varmul Post is also available in a digital edition. While other publications take a broader approach to news in Kashmir, The Varmul Post dives deep into the issues that conc

ern the people of Northern areas of state, combining the best of local reportage with professional level editorial standards. The simple desire to share the truth can have a profound and life-changing effect. Having completed their post-graduation in Mass Communication in 2009, two young men from Baramulla, Noor Ul Haq and Muneeb Ul Haq, had found attractive career options in India but as enthusiastic youngsters committed to high journalistic standards, they could not fail to notice that their native place lacked strong and objective reportage. While other parts of Kashmir were served well by local newspapers, the same could not be said about North Kashmir. The two often discussed this lacuna and in 2014, decided to take upon themselves the task of filling it. This desire essentially became a harbinger of an idea called The Varmul Post.

SBSP State President Vivek Bali Expresses Deep Concern Over Kishtwar Cloudburst, Urges Swift Relief Measures

Srinagar, August 14: Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) State President Vivek Bali on Thursday expressed deep concern over the devastating cloudburst in Kishtwar district, which triggered massive flash floods along the route of the Shree Machail Mata Yatra.

The tragedy struck Chasoti village in the Padder region, claiming more than 30 lives and leaving at least 100 people injured. Rescue operations are in full swing, with evacuation efforts underway to shift residents to safer areas. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local administration are working round-the-clock to locate the missing and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.

The disaster has severely impacted the annual Shree Machail Mata Yatra, which draws thousands of devotees to the revered Chandi Mata Mandir in Machail, Paddar Valley. The pilgrimage route has been disrupted, leaving many devotees stranded.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, Bali said,
"I extend my deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. I also pray for the swift recovery of the injured."

Bali appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, the National Conference-led government, and the central government to take all necessary measures for swift rescue, rehabilitation, and medical support. He urged authorities to shift critically injured victims to AIIMS Delhi for advanced treatment.

He also stressed the need for deploying additional resources to ensure the safe return of stranded pilgrims and immediate compensation for affected families. “It is imperative that we stand with the victims in their hour of need and provide prompt assistance to help them rebuild their lives,” he added.
