Ramnagar Ramleela — Day 2 | 26 September 2026 🚩
The second day of the world-renowned Ramnagar Ramleela brings to life some of the most significant episodes from the story of Lord Rama — including Shringi Yajna, the divine birth of Lord Shri Ram, his childhood leelas, the Yajnopavita (sacred thread) ceremony, and other important episodes.
Ramnagar Ramleela is much more than a theatrical performance. It is a living religious and cultural tradition, preserved through generations and presented in its distinctive traditional style.

The Ramnagar Ramlila of Kashi, inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list, commenced on 25/09/26. On the first day, enactments depicting Ravana's birth, Digvijay, the Kshirsagar Leela, Dev Stuti, and the Akashvani were performed. Neither heavy rain nor foul weather could deter the performance or dampen the enthusiasm of Ramlila devotees. The unprecedented crowd, the presence of the Kashi Naresh, the centuries-old tradition of performing without the use of electricity, and the magnificent recitation style of the dohas and chaupais made the entire atmosphere truly divine. There is no doubt that such a Ramlila takes place nowhere else in the world!

क्षीर सागर की वह दिव्य लीला, जिसका इंतज़ार लीला-प्रेमी पूरे वर्ष करते हैं… 🙏 रामनगर रामलीला में आज क्षीर सागर लीला का अद्भुत दृश्य और उसके साथ होने वाली आरती ने गंगा तट को भक्ति और आस्था से भर दिया। शेषनाग पर विराजमान भगवान विष्णु के दर्शन और चारों ओर उमड़ा जनसैलाब—यह दृश्य केवल देखा नहीं जाता, महसूस किया जाता है। ❤️ रामनगर की रामलीला केवल लीला नहीं, सदियों से चली आ रही एक जीवंत परंपरा और भावनाओं का अनुभव है। जय श्री राम 🚩 हर हर महादेव 🔱

Sumeru Temple, Ramnagar | The Temple That Portrays a Cosmic Order | Varanasi
Across the Ganga from Varanasi, in Ramnagar, stands the remarkable Sumeru Temple. Its walls are filled with gods and goddesses, avatars, sages, sacred rivers, mythical creatures and scenes from some of India's most enduring stories. But there is something deeper here.
The very idea of Sumeru takes us to the ancient Indian conception of the cosmic mountain, the axis around which the universe is imagined. In this video, I explore the history, architecture and iconography of Sumeru Temple, looking closely at the remarkable sculptures that transform its walls into a world of mythology and cosmic imagination.
