AKSU Organises Drug Awareness Programme at Komkar
Rasing Dere, Komkar Village, Upper Siang: The All Komkar Students Union (AKSU) organised a Drug Awareness Programme at Rasing Dere, Komkar village, to sensitise students, youths and the community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote collective action for a drug-free society.
The programme brought together community leaders, educationists, health professionals, PRI leaders and other stakeholders. Resource person Mingat Mibang of Sober Society, Pasighat, highlighted the physical, psychological and social impact of drug abuse on youths.
Personal experiences were also shared by Obang Yao, Omeng Jamoh and HGB Jamoh, stressing the importance of timely intervention and community support.
DIPRO Yingkiong Yalik Jerang, as Guest of Honour, emphasised the role of students, parents and educational institutions in preventing drug abuse. She also highlighted girls’ education, prevention of early marriage and maintaining a healthy environment for young people.
Chief Guest Dr. Mity Jopir Apang, Chairperson, SKCS, Yingkiong, called for collective responsibility and sustained efforts to build a healthy and drug-free society.
The programme concluded with a “Drug-Free Komkar” pledge, taken by all participants.
The programme was organised by Ms. Momang Boko, President, and Ms. Ayang Moti Yao, General Secretary, AKSU Women Wing.
