The Capital Complex Dree Festival 2025 lit up Papu Nallah with vibrant cultural displays and community celebration. The event began with a minute’s silence in memory of former CCDFC General Secretary Pura Guth Tago, followed by the Dree flag hoisting and anthem.

A series of traditional performances followed, with folk dances by Meder Nelo troupes, the energetic Pakhu-Itu, Dree Mega Dance, and a group Daminda performance. Modern dance winners brought youthful energy to the stage.

Community achievements were celebrated through the Apatani Career Guidance Forum awards, release of an audio album by Popi Samii Society, and unveiling of souvenir publications.

The Chief Guest’s inspiring speech and a heartfelt vote of thanks marked the closing formalities. The signature Daminda dance and a grand feast concluded the day, reinforcing the spirit of unity, gratitude, and cultural pride.

Dree 2025 was a glowing tribute to the Apatani community’s vibrant traditions and enduring identity.

Dree Festival 2025: Traditional Rituals Performed to Invoke Agricultural Deities

As part of the ongoing Dree Festival celebrations, traditional rituals were solemnly performed today to appease and seek blessings from the five principal deities of the Apatani tribe—Tamu, Metii, Meder, and Danyi. These deities are invoked to ensure a bountiful harvest, protection from pests and diseases, and overall prosperity for the community.

Local priests led the rituals with offerings of rice beer, eggs, and fowls, in accordance with time-honored customs. Speaking to our team, community elders and cultural experts elaborated on the spiritual and agricultural significance of each deity, underscoring the deep-rooted connection between Apatani tradition and nature.

The ceremony marks a vital part of the Dree Festival, reinforcing the tribe's rich cultural heritage and communal harmony.

Lower Subansiri District Volleyball Association Gets Official Recognition; Habung Bida Appointed as President

Ziro, July 4, 2025:
In a major boost to volleyball development in the Lower Subansiri region, the Lower Subansiri District Volleyball Association (LSDVA) has officially received affiliation from the Arunachal Volleyball Association (AVA), marking a new chapter for the sport in the district.

The affiliation certificate, issued by AVA President Nera Techi and General Secretary Taba Katu, confirms LSDVA’s status as an affiliated member for the term 2025 to 2028. This recognition aligns the district body with both the Arunachal Olympic Association and the Volleyball Federation of India.

Shri Habung Bida has been named the new President of the Lower Subansiri District Volleyball Association.

The formation of LSDVA and its official recognition is expected to pave the way for organized tournaments, athlete training programs, and greater youth engagement in sports. Volleyball enthusiasts across Ziro and surrounding areas have welcomed the development with optimism.

Speaking on the occasion, President Habung Bida expressed gratitude to AVA and assured dedicated efforts to uplift volleyball standards in Lower Subansiri. "This affiliation gives us the platform to dream big for our youth. We aim to bring professional exposure to our players and ensure consistent participation in state-level competitions,” he said.

Apatani Heritage Tower Opens Temporarily for Public Viewing in Itanagar

Itanagar | July 3, 2025
The much-anticipated Apatani Heritage Tower (AHT), a rising cultural landmark in the Itanagar Capital Region, has been opened for visitors at Dree Ground, Capital Complex.

Visitors now have the opportunity to climb to the tenth floor of the tower and witness the majestic statues of an Apatani man and woman, offering a symbolic glimpse into the community’s rich heritage. This public viewing window will remain open until the evening of July 5, 2025. The site will then be closed from July 6 onwards to allow resumption of construction and final finishing works.

Initiated in 2024 through crowd-funding efforts by the executive members of the Golden Jubilee Capital Complex Dree Committee, the Apatani Heritage Tower stands as a community-driven tribute to Apatani culture.

As the tower is still under construction, visitors are kindly requested to refrain from touching the statues to help preserve them during the remaining work.

Hija Community Honours Kago Harie for Winning Gold at World Cup Powerlifting Championship in Moscow

In a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh and the entire Apatani community, Kago Harie, who clinched the gold medal at the World Cup Powerlifting Championships 2025 held in Moscow, was felicitated in a grand ceremony today at Ziro.

The felicitation program was jointly organised by the Hija Apex Body, Hija Officer’s Welfare Society, All Hija Welfare Society CC, Apatani Youth Association, and All Arunachal Olympic Association Lower Subansiri, in collaboration with Tanw Supun Dukun (TSD), the Arunachal Powerlifting Association, and the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from community leaders, sports officials, youth organisations, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Kago Harie’s exceptional achievement on the international stage.

Speaking at the event, dignitaries applauded Harie’s dedication, discipline, and relentless pursuit of excellence that brought glory not only to the Apatani tribe but to the entire nation.
