ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਸਰਨ ਨੇਗੀ ਦਾ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕਿਨੌਰ ਵਾਸੀ ਨੇਗੀ 106 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਨ। ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਦੇਰ ਰਾਤ ਲਗਭਗ 2 ਵਜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਰੀ ਸਾਹ ਲਏ। ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਚ 1951-52 ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਸਰਨ ਨੇਗੀ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਈ ਸੀ।
