🟧 President Barzani said in his message: “On June 9, 1985, the former Iraqi regime committed a major crime against the people of Kurdistan when its aircraft brutally bombed the Zewa refugee camp in Eastern Kurdistan,” noting that the inhumane attack resulted in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of innocent women, children, elderly people, and young men.

🔽 From the classrooms of the University of Mosul to the halls of academic research in Germany, Sarwin Lazkin Qasun has continued a journey marked by years of dedication, perseverance, and determination.

🔽 After nine years of living and working in Germany, she has crowned her academic path by earning a Master’s degree from Leipzig University, within the North American Studies Program at the Department of English and American Studies.

⏹️ His Highness Prince Hazim Tahsin Saeed Beg, Prince of the Ezidis in Iraq and the World and President of the Supreme Ezidi Spiritual Council, received Sheikh Abdullah Hamidi Ajil Al-Yawer Al-Shammari, Paramount Sheikh of the Shammar Tribe, along with his accompanying delegation, at the Emirate Palace in Sheikhan.

🔽 After welcoming Sheikh Abdullah Hamidi Al-Yawer, His Highness praised the historic relations that have long linked the Ezidi community and the Shammar tribe, as well as the bonds of brotherhood that have united both sides for centuries.

🔽 His Highness stated that the relationship between the Prince’s family and the Al-Yawer family is even stronger and more enduring, strengthened by ties of kinship and traditional brotherhood between the two sides.

🔽 He added that the Ezidis and the Shammar tribe have always stood by one another, providing support and solidarity during times of hardship and adversity.

🔽 For his part, Sheikh Abdullah Hamidi Ajil expressed his pleasure at the visit and commended the efforts and role of the Ezidis and the Arab Shammar community in strengthening the historic ties between the two sides. He also thanked His Highness the Prince for the warm reception and hospitality.

⏹ The International Center for Multigenerational Legacies of Trauma, a U.S.-based organization, has awarded its prestigious “Recovery Award” to the late Baba Sheikh, Sheikh Kherto Haji Ismail, in recognition of his historic decision to welcome and embrace survivors.

🔽 The award is scheduled to be received by the current Baba Sheikh, Sheikh Ali Ilyas, reaffirming his spiritual commitment to carrying forward this humanitarian legacy.

🔽 In 2014, the terrorist organization ISIS abducted thousands of Ezidi men, women, and children from the region. Many women were subjected to enslavement and sold in slave markets. Following the genocide committed against the Ezidi people, the late Baba Sheikh issued a courageous decree welcoming the survivors back into the community, emphasizing that the atrocities committed against them were beyond their control. He also called on the Ezidi community to respect, support, and stand by the survivors through every possible means.
