Solar Panel Support for Turkmen and Christian Schools in Erbil

Sabah Banna, Director General of Turkmen Education, provided a statement to TEBA regarding the installation of solar panels in schools.

Banna noted that the solar panels for Turkmen schools were provided by the Shliva Organization with support from Ersan Agha, Turkmen Advisor at the Presidency of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Florin Gorgis, Head of the Department for Ethnic and Religious Components.

Banna emphasized that support for Turkmen education will continue, adding that the Shliva Organization will also carry out gardening projects and renovations in schools.
According to Banna, the solar panels have been installed in Turkmen Doğuş, Akkoyunlu, Atabek and Garibi schools.

Expressing gratitude to those who supported Turkmen schools, Banna stated that assistance would continue based on the schools' ongoing needs.

Salahaddin Provincial Council Recognizes Turkish as an Official Language for Communication

Salahaddin Provincial Council member Atif Al-Najjar announced on Wednesday that the council has received official approval to include Turkish as one of its official languages for communication, in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution.

In his statement, Al-Najjar emphasized that Turkmens represent the second-largest community in the province, stating: “Turkmens have the right to use their language in official correspondence. Therefore, we submitted an official request to the Selahaddin Council Presidency to include the Turkish language in official communications.” He also highlighted the crucial role of the Turkmen community in ensuring security and stability in the province, as well as their sacrifices during the struggle for liberation.

Referring to Article 4 of the Iraqi Constitution, adopted in 2005, Al-Najjar stated: “The Constitution guarantees the right of all Iraqis to educate their children in their native language.” He confirmed that the issue had been formally addressed, and that the council received the necessary approval for using Turkish alongside Arabic and other recognized languages in official council correspondences.

Al-Najjar further noted that the decision became effective following the completion of all formal approval processes, as part of the Salahaddin Provincial Council’s policy to support the province’s diverse communities.

Turkmens are the second-largest ethnic group in Selahaddin province and the third-largest in Iraq. They are predominantly concentrated in areas such as Tuz Khurmatu and several other regions within the province.

Iraqi Turkmen Front Leader Meets with Taqadum Bloc Chief to Discuss Political Developments

The President of the Iraqi Turkmen Front and leader of the United Iraqi Turkmen Front List, Hasan Turan, met with the head of the Taqadum Parliamentary Bloc, Haibat Al-Halbousi, in Baghdad on Wednesday to discuss key political developments and areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Political Bureau members Mohammed Samaan and Osama Nazem Dedeh, along with the head of the Turkmen Front’s Baghdad branch, Gulshan Jalal.

During the discussions, Turan welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of fostering dialogue among political factions to address critical national issues. Both sides explored strategies to enhance political cooperation, resolve outstanding challenges, and ensure the protection of Iraq’s national interests amid the country's evolving political landscape.

The leaders also highlighted the need to improve public services and strengthen Iraq’s regional standing, underscoring the role of constructive political engagement in shaping the nation's future.
