The first day of summer in Reykjavík might look like this. ☀️⁠

“It’s 1 June, not 1 April!” you’d say… and you’d be right. This was captured by Iceland Review four years ago at Reykjavík Art Museum during Listahátíð 2022.⁠

The “beach” is actually an opera by Lithuanian artists Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė & Lina Lapelytė. Sun & Sea is an ecological performance where sunbathers lie under the “sun” and take turns singing—beautiful, carefree… and quietly shocking. 🌊🎶⁠
