New V2 engine: the lightest Ducati twin-cylinder engine ever produced
Only 54.4 kg for Ducati’s new engine, the lightest in the Borgo Panigale manufacturer’s long history of twin-cylinder engines
The new engine features variable IVT timing, DLC treatment on the timing rocker arm and hollow rods for the intake valves
Two configurations, 120 and 115 hp, with different features to increase versatility
Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Oct. 31, 2024 - Ducati continues to believe in and invest in the 90° V-twin engine, the engine that has characterized some of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer’s most iconic motorcycles, and that has won more than 400 victories and 1,000 podiums in championships reserved for production derivatives. The new V2 engine is the lightest twin-cylinder produced by Ducati, and continues the tradition that began with the Pantah and continued with Desmodue, Desmoquattro, Testastretta and Superquadro. A V2 designed to offer maximum riding fun, thanks to a torque-rich delivery at all rpm and sports-engine performance in the high range.
With this new engine Ducati confirms its commitment to development, which has resulted in the introduction of as many as four completely new engines in just seven years, from the Desmosedici Stradale to the Superquadro Mono, from the V4 Granturismo to this new V2. Engines defined by choosing the most suitable technical solutions according to their intended use.
